Her 'pillow talk' with the cutomers was TERRIBLE!

SPOILERS for anyone who hasnt seen movie yet dont read this:

When Alice KNOWS Sondra is a prostitute and she comes into the RV while Sondra is with a customer she (and we) hear Sondra talking dirty to the guy and all. And then when Sondra's giving her advice she tells her to "moan and groan like its the end of the world". I can see Sondra's point of view here! the wuicker the guy cums the quicker its "over" so why noty really ham it up so he'll get crazy and "finish fast"?!

Now we see Alice with a few customers and she does is lie there, not sayin a peep! Even when the guy tells her tyo say he's big and she likes it, she says it in the mose deapan voice imaginable!

Dont you think her customers would have been pissed to pay all that money for her to lie there bored????

because deep down this isn't for her. it just not her to be a whore, even with what shes had to do at this point in her life.

TheBudderKing would be exactly correct. I can tell you, as a female, that being a prostitute would NOT be a very glamorous first experience. No, I've never tried it, but I'm pretty sure I'd have a hard time pretending to enjoy myself when I'd have some serious mixed feelings about destroying my integrity for money.

the experiences she had w/ men in New England we are told in flashbacks weren't the best either. The scenes w/ the Johns where she covers up right away with everyone of them shows how she is dealing w/ the situation. The things you pick up not in the diolage are very important. She was given entirely new close right down to new underwear. she was encouraged to look and dress only in the new stuff. you really should look at the way she is controlled by the couple.

I didn't get the impression she was controlled by the couple at all. In fact, just the opposite. They never suggested she prostitute herself, they never even asked her for money up until then!
It was entirely ALICE'S idea. That's why at the end she blames them, then realizes it was entirely her. They never stole her money, never lied to her, never manipulated her.

remember they drove her to every state in the south east except Florida, where she wanted to go. I don't think you were picking up on the fact that the were moving away from florida. But she was picking that up.

But they told her they weren't driving straight down. Plus, most of the states they went to seemed to be on the way.
They never even once suggested to her that she prostitute herself. She got up one day, dressed up, and walked around the lot. And nearly got them in trouble.
They helped her do it more safely once she decided to do it.

I think we're supposed to wonder if she was being groomed by them, which I definitely think she was. While they didn't outwardly pressure her into it, I think they were hoping it would go this way. Certain clues are there. I think they probably did prey on girls like her in the past, and they had their scam down to a tee, particularly making the girl think it was her idea.

I do agree that her pillow talk was terrible. OK, it wasn't her 'thing' but she is still acting like a hooker! So she could at least give these guys what she agreed to & what they paid for.
