Magnificent Documentation of Slavery in the United States.

I recorded this documentary in 2003 when I was 14.

I would watch it ALL the time, reflecting on the readings from the various actors/actresses in the documentary.

It was as if these slaves/ex-slaves appeared through their re-enactments.

I love some of the archive footage scenes displaying the raw emotion from slaves performing songs and dances.

Slavery was quite a physically and emotionally traumatic experience that defined future generations of African American people.

It's quite sad that some states in the United States STILL demonstrate strong, visible remnants of segregation, racism and separatism in 2012.

History does repeat itself.

Reading news about all of these murders and heinous crimes committed towards people solely based on race is sickening and not shocking.

Everyone should be mandated to watch this documentary as an understanding of real life to comprehend TRUE suffering.

When you gripe about your life being unpleasant, watch this documentary and you'd hush with that type of conversation.
