DVD release

This film will get a UK DVD release on June 26, 2006. Let's hope it's a good quality transfer.

The quality of the transfer is good. But the aspect ratio is enhanced for wide screen!!!!!!! WTF why dont they just make it the org scope ratio 2.35:1????? that makes me sad

Otherwise a great movie

I would like to add that while I mostly agree about the transfer there is this odd pixellation effect that happens whenever there is a fade in or out - could that have been a quality intrinsic to shooting in hi-def or the transfer ? ? ? I don't know.

My friend's TV has a setting to keep the theatrical aspect ratio---I agree that it's awful to have that euphemistically-named "enhanced" picture foisted on you.
.
(Or is it his DVD player that allows you to override the Enhanced picture?...anyway, it's a godsend.)

An ad in the new issue of Film Comment said it will be released on DVD on April 24th (along with a new Brothers Quay Collection.)
