That is what this movie is all about: liberals are idiots.

Based on what? Some European's idea of slavery? Give me a break. You're an idiot for not even thinking through your answer and spouting out typical FOX news talking point bull****, which of course, is always easier than actually thinking for yourself.

reply

Fox is the only news channel not run by the Democrats and of course you hate it for that. Shows how much you hate dissent and freedom of speech.

reply

Straw man argument is straw man argument.

reply

He didn’t make a strawman argument, and he’s right.

reply

Is, "typical FOX news blah-blah-blah" the only thing the establishment can say in response to criticism?

How the hell did these weak minds take over Western Civilization?

reply

Exactly. The movie happens to be set in America, but liberals are in Europe too and Lars could just have easy have set it there. I guess he set it in America because he likes to troll morons who utterly miss the point of his films and instead get upset that he's criticizing their country.

Actually it seems you’ve missed Lars’ point. Yes these films are set in America but they criticise naive idealists from all nations. Manderlay especially criticises Grace’s naive Liberal attitude, and her cynical right wing Dad is proven right once again.

And yet there’s also criticism of the NeoCon overthrow of Sadam and the complete failure to implement a workable system in his absence, leading to chaos.

Von Trier is too sophisticated for simplistic Left/Right interpretations.
