There's one thing one of the makers said in an interview prior to the release, that I'll never forget. To explain how you're supposed to laugh, and then feel bad for having fun when watching it. "You have to pay with a piece of your soul every time you laugh."
I think it's an awesome* film, well beyond any definition like comedy or tragedy. It speaks directly to the soul, and it tells you life is largely dark and horrible and painful and pointless, but maybe the little good parts make it worth it.
I remember when I first watched it, together with a very special friend of mine, it was quite an occasion. We didn't sleep, just talked about it all night. Lacking words to adequately describe it, I can only say it's one of those movies you never forget.
(*The word "awesome" is used so much these days, it's sort of lost its meaning. I like to use it like Metatron does in "Dogma", describing God's voice: He makes it sound like the most superme superlative in any known language.)
