excellent movie!

just returned from this movie at the Gothenburg Movie Festival, and it is hands down the funniest movie ive seen in, like, five years or something. Beats all american comedies of latter years by a mile. Actually, make that a hundred miles.
But maybe thats just me, being finnish and all, and able to appreciate the humour and characters so much more than someone non-scandinavian might. The audience i saw it with seemed to enjoy it at least as much as me, and those were (to the best of my knowledge) mostly swedish.

Anyway, now i definitely gotta find "Pitkä Kuuma Kesä"!

I have seen this movie this summer in a Finnish Language course I made in Helsinki, and I really love the film. Although I understand why many people maybe don't understand or like it.

After seeing some Finnish films, I think it's maybe a bit difficult for a foreigner to understand this kind of cinema. But, otherwise, being a foreigner too, I really appreciate the film, although finnish cinema it's completely different from the rest of cinema I have seen.

By the way, I haven't laugh as much in my live as in the scene on the liquor shop, at the beginning. Really a good movie, and a good starting point with the Finnish cinema.

I've watched this a lot of times, this is the best Finnish comedy ever and the only Finnish movies my friends will watch (and we are Finnish!). I have never met a Finn under the age of 20 who didn't like this movie.

Just saw it on TV... funniest Finnish film of all time! Maybe 'too Finnish' at some points for foreigners but I loved it! Beats all Uuno Turhapuro sh it 100-0!

I just watched the movie and i absolutely loved it! Its not really like any other Finnish film where there is drugs, alcohol, nudity in it. I loved the acting and the story, the best Finnish film Ive ever seen!

I just LOVE this movie. Ruho is just excellent! Anyone who likes funny movies should watch this. EXCELLENT!!! I could watch this million times and I'd still laugh my ass off.

I liked this movie, I finally saw it now from tv... Too bad that I didn't hear all the lines perfectly (I'm a Finn so I DID understand just didn't hear).

And now I realize why my 8 years old nephew thought that "backstage pass" is a bad word. His whole class was saying the phrase from the movie in one point. How did it go..., something like "Tartten backstagepassin että pääsee paskalle". And what could be any funnier to 8 year old boys.

reply

"Antakaa sitte backstage passi, että pääsen paskalle." Oh, I've seen this movie just too many times, LOL. My favourite scene is that one in the library, when Ruho asks the librarian about those books. Just hilarious.

holy crap, has it already been four years since i saw it the first time?
i think i need to rewatch this now.

reply

hah, i rewatched it two days ago again.
