the beauty of this film... in my opinion.

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, you never know with this sort of thing, but what I really liked about this movie was that most of the characters were black, and it really had nothing to do with anything. So often these days it seems like movies have black characters just for the sake of having black characters, and rather than really playing a character, they play "the black guy."

In this movie, if you had changed them all to be white people, or any other race really, it wouldn't have made any difference. That's what hollywood needs more of, in my opinion. That's progressive. They weren't stereotyped, it wasn't about their race, it was just a movie about people. Not a movie about BLACK PEOPLE. A movie about people who happened to also be black. If that makes sense. *shrug*

I agree. They weren't the stereotypical black portraits, any race could be put in the same spot and the movie wouldn't have changed.

It is in no way the type of stuff you would view in a white movie. They're situations that would happen in a GOOD movie. Movies like Booty Call and Miami Tail are not good movies, and are just silly pieces of film. But movies with cursing, indecency and such aren't to be classified as Black movies - they are simply raunchy indecent movies. Movies with sensible plots, good scripts and talented actors aren't to be classified as white movies.

Well it's a Canadian film, which I think is another factor.

Agree, the reason why its so good and unique and not following the typical american nonsense is because its from a the canadian black male experience.Too bad sudz sutherland is not more known but hopefully he'll make some more classics....

I very strongly disagree. I think you may be confused because the leads were light-skinned. This movie was ALL ABOUT black. It may be from Canada, but they were from Haiti or Jamaica or wherever.

No way could it have worked with white actors.

I also disagree with the OP but I have to ask you why do you think it could not have worked with white actors if race is irrelevant to the story? Yes it is from Canada but that certainly does not make them less black. I'm sure Michaëlle Jean would agree.

Namaste, and good luck.

Love, love, love this movie. I love the fact that it wasn't a hood movie, and the way its compares love and sex. And the beauty of the film is it makes you laugh, think and feel. We need more positive films like this one. This movie is a true winner.

Dont forget the actors were from where they were from but the writer and director which is why the movie was so unique is CANADIAN and it was the writing that made this film good.

I really liked this film too and I am a Caucasian. It does have a universal topic (porn addiction) that many people could relate to but with some nuances like the "brother nod" that only some can. Hill Harper is a smart guy--I found out he went to Harvard Grad school.

By the way, this movie also exemplifies that Black can be very beautiful!
