I know you wrote this post like 5 years ago, but honestly I just saw it yesterday, and "Love, Sex, and Eating the Bones", had me laughing throughout the movie. "Love Jones" did not have me laughing. I think the rhyming of the title might have been on purpose, as the characters played by Nia Long and Hill Harper were both young photographers. There was no poetry in Bones, but they both contained black love, so there you go. It spoofed things from Love Jones, as it also did spoof things from Pulp Fiction. It is often considered a form of respect for the original when other movies imitate. Just because there is a thematic or mise en scene repetition does not mean that they have "copied" the movie. I believe that both movies are worth seeing, and both have totally different vibes while watching.
