It's lonely at the top, give 'em a break!

Hello,

For those incapable of wielding it, vulgar money gives the economically ignorant undo influence without wisdom, often resulting in disastrous consequences to themselves and others: lottery winners, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Smith, anyone who did not learn (or figure out) how to control themselves, invest, manage, wait patiently and think. The progeny of wealth often slips into this category when these spawn become weak and ambivalent about responsibility. The "trustfund" babies of the middle-class who never grow up or move out of the house are similar, e.g., don't learn how to hunt for themselves. (see also: "Failure to Launch")

In addition, TV doesn't show folks going to the bathroom, nor does it show the entire picture because people are afraid of speaking or knowing the truth these days, or what they might see. The same with evoking any image of anything revolting, but recently extended to anything "unpleasant" like hard-work.

Now then, imagine yourself as an UHNWI:

- You have lots of "friends." (autographs, court of entourage)
- No one dares say "no" to you. (giant ego, neotonous, fickle personality)
- Most people want a piece of you. (reasonable paranoia)
- You're not quite sure what they want. (suspicion)
- Special privileges conferred, like "KBE" and doctorates. (TV appearances, speeches, "social" events, fund raisers, philanthropy)
- Expectations of leadership. (politics, required friendships)
- Insular castles. (remote control gates, call boxes)
- Can't just go to the store by yourself (kidnapping risk, security personnel, assistants)
- Children usually raised by others. (loose family of strangers)
- Marriage restricted to combining assets of relative proportions for obvious reasons, not love. (title, land and tradition)

Yuck! Too many hassles. Your life becomes an orchestra, or rather maelstrom of activity, despite you in it, with others singing on your behalf.

Curious, how does Warren Buffet do it in suburbia? It seems ridiculously self-limiting. It would be irrational to pretend to be middle class and not take proactive measures to safe-guard one's family. Maybe his neighbors are used to it and seem as a person? Get good kidnapping insurance from Lloyds'. ;)
