Not LDS and I liked it a lot!

Allright, I grew up LDS, but my family fell away from the church when I was about 10. I've never rejoined, but I respect LDS as fellow Christians and try to get my other Christian and non-Christian friends to do the same. Anyhoo, my boyfriend, who's Pentacostal, and I rented the American Mormon docu-comedy and loved it. It was educational for him, a familiar refresher for me, and a good time was had by all. I think the most amazing thing was that we found this and other movies at Hollywood video, and not a specialty outlet, and were surprised not only at their existence, but at their mass appeal (well, at least to the religiously knowledgable).
We like The RM a lot, even though as a movie it went on a bit long, but we appreciate that these guys are bringing something to the mainstream that's truly entertaining and sparks interest in the faith, or Christianity in general without being just a "Bible Story" or a movie about a saint. And I think it's awesome because it can show other denominations that LDS is not some wierd cult, but have the same values and ideals that they do, and try to make the world a better place.
Even others who may not get the "inside jokes" recognize that they have their own inside jokes from their church, and laugh anyway. And then of course, they're more interested in picking up the Book of Mormon or reading up on these names and stories that are referenced.
It may seem cheesy to someone who's LDS, but I think it's a great service to those who aren't :)
