How wonderfully generalised of you champ. Keep up the good work

Yeah, just for the record, 'Australian' isn't a genre. Fool.

Since we're sharing. I really liked this film. And I like Aussie cinema, its on the way up. And you, FilmFanatic14, are a tool. But, that's just my opinion.

This film was very good. I think it deserved more than a 6.9/10. And yes Australian cinema is on the way up. The Proposition is also another very good Australian film that has been released recently.

7/10 maybe. david wenham was awesome.

I'd rate it a 7/10 too. I've always been a fan of David Wenham's work

The truth? Sure, I guess in this case I can 'handle it', mainly because I once found myself in the same sorry situation.

For years I was almost embarrassed at the cinematic attempts of our directors/writers, although after gaining some national pride during my late teens, I began to actually force myself into supporting Australian films.

I'm now happy to say that since that time I have broadened my movie viewing-scope, and thanks to this and other little Aussie gems (Proof, Chopper, The Dish and Shine just off the top of my head), I'm no longer faking it.

While David Wenham performance deserved the AFI award, it was brilliant but the film lacked immediate appeal of Hard Word or Two Hands. It meandered too much until the last 20 mins to build up to the sting. As with most Oz films it did retain the innate quirkiness that fails to appear in many American or British films.
I feel sorry for those who don't appreciate the Australian approach to film. Maybe being Australian bias me but I've always felt we have a wider appreciation of film & tv as we've been inculcated with US & UK fair for years as well as our own.
A list of my favourite oz films of the criminal genre would be Malcolm, The Interview, Chopper (for Eric Bana's performance), Hard Word, Two Hands & Mad Max 1 & 2 (for the action)
For tv Blue Murder, Phoenix & Janus(I hope they'll be on dvd someday) & Wildside.
