Shelved until 2006 DVD release?

I just found out they shot this film 2002-2003 and later shelved it until its dvd release in 2006. I think I know why a certain young man in this film did what he did. He thought no one would ever see this film. If he only knew! Now I'm going to watch this film again and cry myself silly!
