Should be required viewing for anyone stupid enough to travel to Mexico!

Keep reading the news and since I live thisclose to Juarez, Mexico I thought it would be prudent to recommend this movie to anyone living in a border city or contemplating a trip to no man's land. I also highly recommend that the State Department hand out these to people wanting passports with strict emphasis on Scott Glenn's part of bodyguard. I think there could be a new industry in armed bodyguards when traveling to Mexico. What with the high mortality rate of their own citizens, drug cartels engaged in turf wars, crooked police, kidnapping for ransom, and here in my border city,,,a girl was walking back and was on the U.S. side when she was snatched and sexually assaulted. It's getting so bad that spring breakers are staying here! Well, love this movie and Jonathan Brandis. Though I think you'll be paying more than what Craig Wasson did for Scott Glenn's services and I'm sure you'll be meeting much more than screwy bikers and corrupt federal police. Lesson learned...don't go there! Stay at home!

I will never enter Mexico... it is a corrupt country loaded with criminals and the police are on the take. I know of someone who was driving in Mexico City, and a Mexican woman ran a traffic light and he hit her driver side door and she died. Her fault, right? Guess who was thrown in jail?

Many, many thousands of dollars of under-the-tables payoffs later, he was released.

Not a smart place to visit.

Another movie that should be required viewing before considering a trip South of the border... "Man on Fire" with Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning... it's an excellent film and shows how hopeless things can get ...very quickly... with corrupt police everywhere. One of Denzel's best too, IMO.

Yes. We Americans will base our view of the world on MOVIES MADE BY US. That's the most intelligent thing I've heard all day! What an idiot!

Let's all just stay in our little bubbles, so sure that the US is heaven on earth and that our president was actually elected. Talk about corruption...

OP, do you believe all the lies you hear or only the obvious ones?

I have to say this....yes there are some *beep* areas in the U.S. I would also avoid.....I believe not as big a blanket of corruption covers our country however. There are different levels of corruption but having been to Mexico I can say a "very" large portion of the country is unsafe. Lot's of heinous immoral crimes and shady activity going on.

I have a friend I play cards with who was born and raised in Mexico but came here and started up a successful business and even he says it's dangerous for alot of Spring Breakers to drive through the country. The police force there in particular is extremely corrupt.

I'm a liberal guy on almost all political issues so this isn't a let's bash Mexico crusade I'm just calling it as I see it.....the overwhelming majority of the people there are genuinely decent folk and I feel sorry for them.

Good thing we got someone from the pure-as-driven-snow city of Chicago, eh? I'm sure he'd never do something like appoint a Treasury Secretary (IRS) that cheated on his taxes.

Bush & the 110th Congress (and predecessors)were wrong for killing many of our civil liberties, but the next guy is not an improvement IMO.

And if you like Mexico, talk the the lady whose husband was killed last fall and his body never recovered on the lake that borders Texas:
