I dont think you should expect a moviepresentation to follow the book word for word. Besides...I doubt that this one had the same budget as the movie Troy that will be out shortly (or if it has already premiered).

However, I DO agree with you that this movie isnt that good. I dont blame tha actors (although Achilles more looked like a retarded giant and blew all my doubts away when he spoke, and shouldnt the kid that discovered the horse have noticed it before he stood right by it?? I mean, a 20 meters hi horse is kinda hard to miss. And no, I dont know what it is in feet. I´m swedish...we´re metric over here). I blame the script. I feel that they could have spent about half the money the spent on special fx on the script instead. Maybe then it wouldnt blow so much.

The FX were nice, though you could see it was just that, FX and nothing more wich is kinda sad.

Oh, very well. It served it purpose anyway. I looked through the whole thing, but I dont think I would recommend it to anyone...

If you're talking about the story being faithful to the book, "Troy" is even worse. The story is really twisted upside-down that you won't know who's who and what's what anymore. Comparing the 2, "Helen of Troy" is still closer to the original story.

And don't forget that the casts of "Helen of Troy" are way much better than "Troy" with the exception of Achilles and probably Hector, because Eric Bana really delivers his acting well.

That's right, this movie is a far better adaptation from Homer's The Iliad than Troy, I find this minisseries good nonetheless, it told a story, in Troy, people that doesn't die, die, those who die, don't die, people die in different locations, not to mention that most of the movie Troy revolves around Achilles and his doubts/believes, Helen of Troy revolves around her than expand into the conflict of the 'Greek Alliance' and Troy.

If only the minisseries had shown the power of Achilles like Troy did, instead of a muscular giant who screamed once "All fall before Achilles".

How sad that Troy turned out to be horrid as well...

It may have its faults but Troy is a little worse.

I really must disagree. The film is full of atmosphere as well as believable and charismatic characters - that is not to say likeable as so many of the characters in the Iliad are not exactly likeable, but then that is probably just like real life - all suggesting that this film really is an excellent realisation of Homer's great book.
