Sienna Guillory (Helen) IS HOT!

Where has she been??? I think there needs to be an official website for her. Yep, need more pictures. :) Oh, and so far the miniseries movie is pretty good. I think the last part will have a lot more fighting and action. I don't know which "guy" is the last man standing who gets the girl (don't know much about that era) but from the beginning the younger of the "evil" brothers is the narrator so it's probably him... too bad.

Hey, must be pretty uplifting to have been chosen to play a role where you're supposed to be the hottest girl on Earth (in the movie). I know I'd be beaming if I was chosen for a role as the hottest guy. :) hehehe

reply

Yeah, she is really hot, she should make some more movies.

Oh, and nice predicition, Manaleous (sorry if I spelt that wrong) who is the narrorator, does get Helen in the end

reply

Actually, Guillory was a BIG disappointment. If you consider her pretty, that makes Joan Rivers the prettiest woman in the world today. Guillory was plain and flat in her acting. Bad choice of the lead role.

reply

Let me guess. You would have preferred Pamela Anderson for Helen.

reply

I agree totally about Guillory! I know everyone has different opinions when it comes to beauty, but come on! If you're going to cast an actress to play the most beautiful woman in the world, pick someone worth fighting a war for.

Do you think Diane Kruger in "Troy" is more suitable? C'mon...

she was a HORRID choice for Helen!

While Sienna Guillory is a pretty girl, she a far, far, FAR cry from being labeled as "the most beautiful woman in the world". You would have thought that the creative powers behind the movie would have left that part out or covered it up with some creative license.

I just could not get over how they showed all the male characters just melting at one glimpse at this Helen of Troy. I was literally laughing out loud.

She might be hot to some, but I saw very little of the physical and sexual presence that the actress for this role should have possessed. Oh, and baring your ass for the camera does not equal sexuality. If it did, Howard Stern would be the sexiest man in America. lol

In Greek and Roman times, perhaps Sienna would have been considered a great beauty. But in my honest opinion, I think she's too skinny and too frail for that time period. I think a portlier woman would have been more appreciated than Sienna's rail-thin body. I mean, this is a time when people devoured red meat and wine by the truckload. They even had special rooms for vomiting so you could enjoy your gluttony to the umpth degree. I would have preferred a more full-figured Helen, but of course, that doesn't sell these days.

I think. Finding a girl to play the most beautiul woman in the world is impossible because everyone has different opnions on what is beautiul but i think she did a good job at playing Helen and i can't imagine someone else as Helen.

reply

Sienna is beautiful and exotic, and there is definately something " golden" about her, as someone said. I also agree with the bone structure comment. However, I find her a bit frail and ethereal to play such a sexual character. Finally, I believe that the production may have something to do with it: it lacks glamour. It would be ok to portrait a face-washed Helen as a teen, but as she grew older her make up and jewlry should become heavier and more sophisticated.

Anyway,an exquisite beauty with a stronger presence, like Laetitia Casta, would be much more accurate, I think. Helen must have had a MAGNIFICENT presence, which stood out - a feast to male eyes.

This actress wasn't beautiful enough to be Helen, an actress playing her has to be closer to a 10. She was cute and mildly pretty but not someone to make such a big deal over like they did in this movie. They could have browsed myspace (early 21st century) and found a more beautiful woman.

Hmmm, I don't agree that she was a "HORRID" coice for Helen. I think that any girl they choose for the role of Helen of Troy (including this latest bird in "Troy") will never please everyone. Everyone has different tastes etc.

I do think it was a good choice because Helen was said to be "golden" and Sienna definitely was. Her beauty would have been something so different in those times where most girls were plump and dark. Also, she portrayed the role so well, that childlike quality and carefree spirit is what made her even more attractive to men.

I think she did very well. Also, the bone structure of her face is just EXQUISITE! The best I've seen since Michelle Peiffer (or however you spell it!)

I never thought about Helen being that way. That's a rather interesting perspective of looking at it. I appreciate your input; it really made me think about the real Helen, and Sienna Guillory, and how the standard of beauty was back then.

she was also in a girl like that...mmm she's pretty but def not the most beautiful woman in the world...she made a better 50's blonde school teacher...

Sienna is hot! And i think it's better to have an unknown actress playing the role of helen considering the story. If it's some high-profile actress, i probably would've seen her as THE ACTRESS herself, not Helen.

I believe that Sienna was actually quite beautiful (and yes, I am a girl, and no, I am not gay). She had one of those faces that you can't label- she had a "different" look, and although she may not be the idea of a "stunner" nowadays, I believe that she had the type of european face that men back then would appreciate. btw, did anyone else think she looked kinda like jennifer love hewitt in some scenes??

I think shes pretty hot! And she has a nice juicy ass! Go Sienna!

Well, for my contribution, no she's not a perfect actress, but then many of them weren't e.g. Theseus's accent had a distinct twang in it. But the movie was made for TV, so some allowances have to be made. Also, when an actor's performance is not great, you also need to look at the script and the direction. There were quite a few script failings, as is usually the case in TV minis, especially sword and sandal epics.

But the overall concept was good and, in the context of the character, Guillory was good. Her childlike qualities suited the part and you could see why the men adored her. That's the important thing. Was she the most beautiful woman in the world? Well, who is? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The important thing is that they thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world and the story developed this concept well. And in the context of the world 4,000 years ago, had Guillory been there she may well have been the most beautiful woman. Who knows what the world was like then.

And she is not bad looking and, yes, she has a superb backside. Pity we didn't see the rest. For the record, I think she is better looking than Pamela Anderson and a FAR better actress. The comparisons are comical.

I agree with you, johnboz69. It was a TV miniseries for pete's sake. Their budget alone would have had an effect on what they could do and how much. The cast was okay, I've seen much worse, and Sienna Guillory was fine. Everyone has their own notion of beauty. Nefertiti and Rahab were supposedly the most beautiful women of their eras, too. So who's to say? But can you imagine any woman measuring up to the ideal of what Helen looked like (if we even knew what she looked like)?
Was watching HELEN OF TROY a total waste of my time? No, because I've been fascinated with the Trojan War ever since reading Edith Hamilton's Greek Mythology, later the Iliad and other versions of the story. It's probably my all time favorite legend. So although realizing its failings, I still enjoyed watching it. I think seeing the story through Helen and Paris was a good way to tell it. The film maker will show it from a different perspective in TROY, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it too!

This was posted a long time ago, but I have to defend Stellan SkarsgÄrd as Theseus. Swedish is his first language. Yes, his accent had a bit of a Swedish sound - he used his normal English speaking voice as far as I could tell. But accent or no, the man is one of the finest actors working in movies today - check out his work in Breaking the Waves, and his contributions to Scandanavian film are extremely impressive. I should also point out that I didn't hear much in the ways of Greek accents anyway. I'm quite certain Helen didn't speak with that lovely English accent, charming as it was.

Unfortunately, after some strong early support in movies like Good Will Hunting, he seems to be getting relegated to mediocre thrillers and TV movies in his Hollywood career.

She IS a babe! Wonder if that was a body double used for the nude scenes?

reply

I'm happy to report that that was indeed nearly all of the incredibly beautiful Ms. Guillory on display in the film. She was on Letterman talking about doing the wedding banquet scene-- for the scene she wore only a couple pasties and a little strip over her vagina. A gorgeous and gutsy actress!

reply

She was lost on me. Not terribly attractive in the least.

Thanks for contributing nothing

She looks like a cross between Dawson's Creek's Meredith Monroe and Claire Danes. Too plain for Helen.
