the beginning?

i always miss the beginning. why does she end up at the ranch. did his sister put up an ad and why? why did she answer the ad? was she already engaged?

reply

She is engaged at the beginning, and her roommate feels like she's with the wrong guy - She thinks her fiance does not appreciate Jordan and does not really want to marry her, but is sort of going through the motions, and just doing what he has to do to maintain the relationship. He does not have that "I can't live without you" feeling, does not really connect emotionally.
So the roomie submits Jordan's single ad to a magazine, as Tyler's sister submits his. Jordan and Tyler both halfheartedly agree to it, though neither has his/her heart in it. (That's why at the end, the roommate says "I introduced them")

Actually, I made a mistake. They are not engaged, but have been together for a long time. Jordan is hoping for a commitment , and it's either their anniversary, or her birthday, or some special occasion, and he tells her he wants to talk about something important. She expects a marriage proposal, and he gives her a key to his apartment, and wants to try living together.
Her feeling is that he should know he loves her, and want to be with her, without a "trial". Then her roommate gets her ad to the magazine, etc.

Actually, I think the friend just responded to Tyler's sister ad. I don't think she just put Jordan's ad out there for all to see. She replied to the ad Laurie put in and that's how Jordan ended up on the ranch.
