Another film. The Station Agent became a top five favorite for me the first time i saw it. It's so rare to find such a quiet, contemplative movie. I rarely get that same feeling, but I recently did again with a German film Barbara. All though the plots could not be more different, that slow contemplative emotional feeling came over me just like Station. I hope more people will experience that film from this post and enjoy. Another favorite of mine this year is Short Term 12. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either. Please comment if you get to see either of these.

Thanks I'll be sure to check both of those out. Another movie that comes to mind that has kind of a similar feeling to "the Station Agent" is "Slingblade"...much different movie just a similar slow paced movie.

I saw this movie for the first time nine years ago and loved it . I watched it again yesterday because my boyfriend had never seen it and even though he typically prefers science fiction or fantasy to quiet movies, I knew this one had a few things going for it that I could use to get him to give it a try. One being Dinklage (we watch GOT) and the other being trains. He loves trains. He dragged his feet a bit when I first mentioned it, but started getting into it almost from the beginning. After it was over he said, that was really good and glad I got him to give it a try. Funny that you mentioned Slingblade. That was the movie I mentioned he should check out next after we watched this one, also for it's quietness.

I've already seen both Barbara and Short Term 12 and I agree, both are great movies. I'll try to think of some more along these line.

I loved short term 12. It is so rare these days to have a quiet authentic story about great characters. I will check out Barbara, thanks for the suggestion. Here is to more small, quiet films. Peace

Thank you for the recommendations. I always enjoy getting them when I like a movie. I've seen neither...so I'll have to check them out.
