Please tell me this was a parody.

I watched this movie yesterday and was very upset by how bad it was, I don't know what I was expecting. The more I think about, the more I think it was just a parody. The story was so predictable, all the characters were completely stereotypical, the pretty art teacher, the stern math teacher, the fat (but funny!) gym teacher. The acting wasn't particularly good, and the dialogue was just barely colloquial, at the very best. It just seems like no one would look at this picture after making it and think "This is impressive, I will enjoy watching this over and over again." Even though it isn't a parody, I'm going to pretend it is.

Not really, I think a cynic would say after watching a horrible movie that they aren't surprised that such a horrible movie has been made and isn't a parody. Whereas someone that jumps to more positive conclusions would say that the sucktastic movie they just saw must have been a parody, because they have more faith in filmmakers than to actually make a movie that terrible. I, myself have never seen the movie, but I do know how the OP feels. I've seen movies that were so bad I thought they might be parodies, and I'm sure some of them really were.

The movie for sure has its weak points..
Personally - I think that David Paymer is overacting his role........
I think the 2 boys walking around with the stereo and commenting the basketball games - are really lame....

But all in all, I still like the movie, I like Ryan Reynolds role and I like some of the other characters as well...
This is no masterpiece, heck, I wouldn't even buy it on DVD or BD, but when it comes on television, I usually end up watching it...

Adbusqui, I completely agree with you. What a bad movie this is. I've watched so many "teacher" movies over the years and this one must be the absolute worst I've ever seen. Like you said, it must be a parody - but it wasn't even funny? Is this a genuine attempt to make the audience actually "feel" something? I am quite easily entertained but I think the right audience for this movie are 5-10 year olds. I simply can't imagine any adult enjoying the "depth" of this movie - bad acting, no originality, total predictability and tons of clichés. I was so glad when it was over.

If this is the worst teacher movie you've ever seen you've been extremely lucky.

I haven't actually seen it but because when I read the information on it, it seemed like a parodied, bad-acted, rip-off of the amazing movie 'Dead Poets Society'.

i get so tickled when people complain so vehemently about movies--especially when they have obviously sat through the whole ordeal. when i come across something that i think is horrible i usually switch channels. :D

by the way, i thought the movie was pretty cool.

This film wasn't intelligent enough to be a parody. The predictability sent me pondering what age group this was geared for - I'd have to guess elementary school age. Anyone else would be bored. what a waste of a good cast.
