Do you like to be scared $hitLi$?

I played this game when it first came out and it was and has been since the most disturbing, terrifying and chilling experience that I have ever had in the Survival Horror genra. I keep coming back for more though so I guess I must be a fear masochist (?)

I agree with the person that said that this is much freakier then the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series.
It's awesome.

I've just started it - how long does it take to complete?

I've got 2 and 3 to play when I've finished this!

reply

It took me between 13-15 hours the first time through.

Where are you in the game now?

reply

I've just used the brass key to get into the room up the stairs - I found a red audio tape and a spirit stone before I saved.

reply

Still have a ways to go =)

I beat the game. And I hear that if you beat it on Nightmare Diffuculty, you'll unlock an alternate ending! Oh yes.

reply

Alternate ending is so not worth it... The change in outfits are interesting and the pick where you want to start option is nice.

It now became apparent (despite the lack of library paste)that something had happened to the vicar;

I love to get scared!!! Will this game really do it?

reply

Oh yes, trust me, if you've not had the pleasure of playing this yet, this is simply like no other game I've ever come across.
Indeed, this serves to get the heart pounding better than any cardiovascular exercise I know of!

Excuse me good sir, but you are standing on my scrotum

I'm bloody stuck at the ritual door with the 13th day of teh 12th month wheel. I've tried putting in 1312 but the door won't open - the numbers are in japanese so I can only guess its the first, third and second digits???

Stupid game!!!

I may be able to help
If you check in your collected 'Research notes' you should find a document translating the Japanese numerical characters.
It's then just a case of referring to and inputting the corresponding symbols.

The most annoying part of the game for me was a ridiculous bit of programming in the 'Demon Tag' chapter.

An intrinsic clue to a puzzle lays outside in the Cherry Atrium, underneath the tree where a woman has previously hanged herself.
However, to get the aforementioned clue, you have to first go all the way up stairs and walk out onto the observatory to trigger a cut scene.
What the hell?! You can walk around the exact spot outside but can't see a thing?! Ridiculous!

Excuse me good sir, but you are standing on my scrotum

There are multiple doors that require codes - try checking any recent files or scraps you picked up, any that contain clues to these doors will have the numbers highlighted in red.

***SPOILERS***
One of the doors' code is the number of days the girl has been waiting - 3669, I believe.

Another decent Japanese horror game is Kuon:

It's much tamer, but since it's slower-paced and disturbingly quiet, while keeping with the Japanese ghosts and demons setting, it works in its own way.

at one point!!
