Thomas

Ok, I loved the new show and Nia and the rest of the family were absolutely great in it, but this poor replacement for John Corbett is sooo annoying. "Thomas" as he is now called just annoys me to no end and he is so unlike the nice, sweet character in the movie who would do anything to have Toula's parents accept him. Now it seems they are married and he's sitting here trying to cause discord. I totally don't get that. Wow, I would do anything to see John Corbett in the show...he was sweet, nice, and hella hottt! Other than the annoying husband, I give this new sitcom an A++++++! I wonder how it did in the ratings. Anyone know?

Gosh, I know. John Corbett suited the character to a T. This dude friggin acts so differently from "Ian" Personally, I really think that they could have found someone much better who had the same passion as John (listen to the audio comment-thingy on the DVD and you'll know what I'm talking about)to play this guy. But other than that I thought it was great, my mum and I had a lot of great laughs.

Yeah, they probably could of found someone better, but I still wish John could've gotten out of his commitment with FX and been able to join the show. That would've been ideal. I think the pilot episode was a little stiff and forced but I definitely expect it to get better because we have to remember who is behind this show---Nia Vardalos! I have a firm belief that that woman can do anything...and make you laugh a lot in the process.

Not 100% sure about this, but I heard it was number 1 and got more viewers than the show that was meant to lead into it, "Everbody Loves Raymond".

I also thought the show was great, I live in the UK and was lucky to find the DVD of the entire series in HMV. I thought the it was great that all the original family members were here. I thought it wud have been nice if we saw Nia and Nicks' sister Athena in the show. I thought it wud have been great if John was available to come back and play Ian, but I still thought Steven was very funny as Thomas, and I must admit that I prefer the name Nia rather than Toula. Overall I think its shame the show got cancelled, as I think it would have got better over time, plus all shows tend to be a bit weak during the first season, but I'm glad I've got the show on DVD.
