Are you lot like thick in the head or something? Did you not see the obvious message that scene was giving?
Talley was endangering the kid's (Tommy/Jimmy Bennett} life trying to get the dvd and Tommy's excited comparison of that to a video game showing his young innocence made Talley feel guilty. Hence the emotional scene after where Talley is struggling to hold himself together.
The acting was also brilliant, as expected from 2 brilliant actors
So if you dont understand it dont bash it.
I'm all for taking the P outta poorly done scenes or bad acting but i HATE it when people take really good, meaningful scenes and pick them apart just to get a cheap laugh.

I thought that scene was sweet. It showed how much faith Tommy put into Talley comparing him to a superhero. Talley knows what it's like to be in a similiar situation before and failed and is asking the kid to do something that could potentally be dangerous. It shows how emotional he is, I dunno I liked it.
