The voice of southwest sydney

Fat Pizza is the voice of Southwest sydney , with increasing ethnic diversity and crime Fat Pizza tells the story of where i live truthfully.

Everyone who is a westie can relate but now SBS don't want to air the show anymore, Dear Friends,

I have just read and signed the online petition:

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition

I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might
agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider
signing yourself.

Best wishes,

James

well i found the movie hilarious. and the reason why is that i live in sydney, admittedly not in the crime riddled part that the movie is filmed in though... it is grossly stereotypical, but there are many people like those portrayed. you have your funny sex crazed cabbies, your dirty bogans, your aggressive ethnics, etc. You can just relate to so much of the story, even if it does take the worst of sydney and put it into a small comedy.

<<<<"Fat Pizza" sums up just about everything that's wrong with the Australian film industry.

Whine about the Free Trade agreement all you want, it won't hide the fact that you're making crappy films for a nice audience and not even sparing a thought about profit. >>>>>

Fat pizza did make a profit though, it was number one at the box office in its first week ahead of bruce almighty.

And are you from Australia?

Have you seen the series?

If you have then I have to admit its going down hill but it use to be one of the best shows on tv.

reply

if you dont love this movie you arent an aussie. i hired this movie on weekly expecting it to be a bit boring, but i mustve watched it about 7 times in that week i loved it so much. the start had me in hysterix.

i might be able to understand if you werent australian and didnt like this, because you cant relate to our culture. but then look at some of the comedies americans shat out, like 'raising helen'.

the show was gettin funnier after the movie, besides losing sleek. other than 'pizza live' the series has always been excellent.

Dude, this movie might not be the best aussiefilm ever made, but it sure as , is better that the usual crap portraiting "The aussie life". Has anyone seen "The illustrated family doctor", I mean YUCK!That was just another one of those that made me fall asleep. This one kept me awake and it made me laugh. (It wasn't as good as the series but it was good enough.)
It has to many aussie jokes to go over to well in other countrys, I had to explain who Lindy Chamberlain was when I showed it to my friends from Sweden, but they still liked it!
Conclusion, this movie is fun, and if you think you can do better.. Who the *beep* is stopping you???

I have one thing to say to you - get out. You wanker. You wank stain. You...wanker. I don't know where your from but if your'e from the US of A then you are just a complete idiot. Look at the bunch of pure *beep* that comes out of that country and just because you are a super power you commercial all of the junk that comes out of your crime-ridden, degenerate and internationally looked-down-upon community. Titanic, Pearl *beep* the movies..just..all the same. America has no culture and commercially buffs up every movie it comes up with. Australia does not have a large movie industry but when it does make a movie, it's a gem. Take our latest film, Jindabyne, self-explanatory.

But all of that is just if your American..because i'm so fed up of Americans telling everyone else that their movies are bad. SO if your'e not American then I hate you, otherwise.... i'll leave that to your imagination.

Australians like ethnic humour therefore Fat Pizza works because it has a lot of ethnic humour (chocos rock). The closest thing America gets to ethnic humour is a token black guy spouting supposed black catchphrases. At least Fat Pizza tells it like it is.

Is it stupid? It's not like American comedy is particularly dry and witty either.

"You Warriors are good. Real good."
"The best."

It's like american pie,you never get sick of it.
So don't bad mouth FAT PIZZA,'cause you must have no sense of humour whatsoever if you do.

this movie has to be one of the most awful movies i have ever seen.
the effect of watching this movie is about the same as having your eyes gouged out with a rusty spoon although you would probably get more enjoyment from that than you would from watching this movie......if it can be called that

Hi from sweden ;0)

First off, I haven't seen the series, but this flick made me laugh my a$$ off!

What made me do that, wasn't really the plot persé, but rather the comic thing they did with the foul language. Cutting it out and insert other sounds, like chickens and other strategically surprising sounds one would never had expected substituting "bad" words.

This was what made the movie enjoyable. Without them, the flick would have flopped totally.

One other thing that was really funny was that junky, whatever his name was (The one that loved exstasy, mushrooms etc...), when his 'vision' turned from normal into video game- mode =0). That cracked me up really bad...

Overall, I'd say this flick was surprising, one of a kind, not too bad (Hey, wanna see a BAD movie, watch Mangler 2.0, I tell you that! It's a fact!), especially for an movie from Australia!

In fact, some of the scenes still pop up in my head sometimes, for eg. the weddings (plural, mix-up with the priest), when they're outside yabbing about who's going in first etc, they do the chicken- sound- thingie... Hehe.. That's innovating thinking...

I'd set 7 out of 10 points...
The moore chef's, the worser soup...

I'm certainly not from the part of Australia that this is set in, but I thought this movie was absolutely hilarious, and I love the TV series also.

Obviously there are some cultural references (and cameo appearances) that non-Australians wouldn't understand, but I think much of this movie could stand on its own two feet to any audience because the humour can be seen in the situation itself.

As for it being stupid, or immature or whatever, I disagree. Yes, there's a lot of pretty silly humour in it (still pretty funny), but I think there's a lot of really witty social commentary there, and it manages to really balance the two. I think that's the hallmark of any great comedian or artist, in this case Paul Fenech. Take for instance the scene where the cop pulls them over for speeding and they have an argument about slowing down or coming to a complete stop at a stop sign and then the policeman drags Sleek out of the car and hits him with a truncheon and says, "would you like me to slow down or come to a complete stop?" Or take the "Police Now Targetting Lebanese" and "Police Now Targetting Habib" road signs, or the references to Ivan Milat (Merv Hughes) or Red Symons as the immigration officer in Alice Springs who doesn't believe Paulie that he's Australian and then throws him in a detention centre in the desert. There's a lot of really topical stuff in there.

I think this movie managed to say a whole lot more about the state of affairs in Australia than most people are willing to admit, it got an incredible cast of cameos, it got a lot of laughs (or some sort of reaction at least), and it got a good response. That probably drives large segments of the "arts" community right up the wall, and that can't be a bad thing. These wankers are always telling us to challenge the establishment. They are the establishment though and when anyone challenges them they get (in true establishment fashion) really uptight about it.

Im noT an Aussie, im from England, but i love "Fat Pizza", the fact its so simple and the characters (Pauly ect) are although violent, aggressive, stoners ect, they are very likable.
Some of the humour (not being from Aus) i do miss out on, but as i said, i love it.
Like the series more than the film (apart from people like DjBj "wheeky-whaaa"!)

For peope who dont like it....."YOUR ALL STOOGES MATE"!!!!!!!!

Fat Pizza is the dumbest TV show ever. The characters are terrible, the acting is terrible, even the pizza is terrible...
Fat Pizza is ridiculously over-the-top and I don't believe that I want people thinking that Australian life is like that.

-I was in that Movie & I don't even get a mention! Only reason why "Fat Pizza"
EVER aired was because Fenech had won the "Tropfest" Film Award & He's a D*go & SBS likes to kiss the *sses of any/all D*go FilmMakers.
I'm ashamed to mention "Fat Pizza" on My CV/Resume now, because I cringe with disgust that I allowed Myself to appear in it, only adding to the UNPC Stereo-typing of traditional 3rd generation Aussies
We were ripped off, $$$-wise, he does everything on the cheap & he edited out a LOT of Dialogue that We spent days, learning before-hand.
Out-stage him in the way of genuine, funny humour & he'll wipe you like a hot potatoe! Like most D*gos in this country, he thinks he's an American Negro "Rapper"-Cool & talented...
A Friend loaned her house out to him for internal filming & she ner got paid..
