A Masterpiece

William A. Baker couldn't direct his own bowel movement, much less a film.

Actually, and I speak as one who lays claim to having been part of this piece of crap, "Exorcism" IS his bowel movement...Brian Patrick Clarke

Brian Patrick Clarke,
What memories do you have of making EXORCISM?
How did you get involved with this movie?
What was it like to work with William A.Baker?

Personally,I enjoyed the movie! Unintentionally
funny,entertaining,and has the "message."

Eddie, in all honesty, I quite enjoyed the process of working - while shooting - on the film, as the folks involved were all very nice. The script stunk, right from the get-go, but if William had followed my advice (much less the uproarious response when he initially screened it), he would have re-cut, bumped up his truly horrible soundtrack (yes, he did the music as well...er, as "poorly") so that it was inarguably "spoofing" and been happy to achieve a measure of acclaim as a comedic writer/director/producer. Instead, he went with his ego, insisted it was (I quote) "A very scary movie" and put an absolute piece of crap into the market. Ah, well...

To update: none of us has received so little as a penny for the numerous airings that this junk has "enjoyed." SAG has filed a grievance, but when all is said-and-done, there will be no one left (the "company" was an LLC) against whom to file a civil action. Hence, William A. Baker is not only a non-talent, but also a scumbag!

PS - The Amanda Bynes film "Sydney White" (release date is September 21, 2007) served to remind me of how joyful the experience of working with truly talented folks can be; she, Joe Nussbaum (director) and ALL of the people involved were phenomenal! I hope you'll get to check it out.

Peace,

Thanks for sharing your experiences, BPC.

A question or two:

1) The film seemed to be less of a horror film than Christian propaganda (even going so far as to demonstrate the weakness of Catholics). Was this something that Baker ever discussed? Did he ever explain his film as having a "legitimate" purpose beyond entertainment?

2) Were you present at the premiere, and if so, was it booed, laughed at, or a healthy mixture of both? What did others associated with the project think of the end result?

Thanks again for reading this, and thanks for that awesome mullet, T.C.

Don't check these as a rule, E, so I'm sorry that you "sat unanswered" for a couple of weeks. Busy detaching a retina, having surgery to get it reattached and now wondering if I will even look quasi-human when we go back to LA for the September 20th premiere of "Sydney White." Hope you get to see, as I can PROMISE it will not be another "What the hell were they thinking?" experience for you! Amanda Bynes is sensational, Joe Nussbaum was a dream to work with, and everybody involved was "CLASS" in all senses. Wow, what a difference.

William A. Baker is ???? God only knows what his personal "agenda" is, but as I noted previously, he is a consummate scumbag when it comes to his business dealings. It is one thing to simply suck creatively. It is another "level" altogether to screw people, left and right, in pursuit of your own gain. He is, very much, "the latter." In a nutshell, he's a scumbag. Win some, lose some, I guess.

Didn't go to the "premiere" on this sucker, though I had a legitimate excuse, as we were out of town. I did have a couple of buddies attend on my behalf, however, and they were appalled. Expecting little, they found even less. It was HORRIBLE (as you have discerned) and the only - ONLY - prospect William A. Baker had for personal "redemption" on this pile of crap was to release it as a send-up. Too stupid, too stubborn, too self-assured to see what he had wrought. C'est la vie.

Again, sorry for the delay. I promise that "SW" IS worth seeing!

Peace,
BPC
"To mullet...or not to mullet? That IS the question."

I read awhile back on the CHRISTIAN CINEMA website
that William A. Baker did this movie because he had
personal experiences in the past with spiritual
warfare and wanted to make a movie dealing with the
subject.I also read that he wants to make several more.

Hey Brian

We used to run into each other at Burger King on Van Nuys Blvd, until you got sick of seeing me....sorry Exorcism was a misfire; catchy old title, though.

So, when do we work together?
