I can't stand Mary

She's so manipulative and feels so entitled despite being a single mother who cranked out a bunch of kids with some 3rd world loser.
What is this show about other than what happens to a man who doesn't take charge and gets beaten up at every opportunity by women?

I blame poor writing, she is completely insufferable and William has no backbone. That tantrum she threw at Oxford was just ridiculous--pitching a jealous fit when you're dropping off your partner's daughter at Oxford--who does that? I find her mother and Rick to be much more interesting, it's a shame they are nothing but side characters.

Nice guys always get treated like crap. You can be strong but try and be a good man and you get used and then thrown away like yesterdays garbage. Welcome to the post feminists world

reply

Ah, nice guy syndrome. Yes, blame feminists for your problems. There's nothing like males whine about being marginalized like the women they're used to dominating.

reply

You mean like women whining and crying about every single thing that doesn't go their way? Like jobs they aren't qualified for, or not getting raises in pay because their job performance is so sub par a guy could do better off the street? Or how about the way guys who are merely accused of something with no proof whatsoever are crucified by feminists because a woman said he did something even though he may not have been within a hundred miles?
I worked with hundreds of women, 90 percent are lying g, selfish, narsissitic c u next tuesdays? Feminists excel at blaming everyone but themselves for their failings when in fact they aren't half a percentage point as great as they think they are

So glad I'm not the only one. I'm watching the last season now, and I keep yelling about what a bitch she's being about everything. Yes, her mother is ill, yes what happened to her son was scary. And yes, the near sexual assault was horrible - but she never told him about it. She never leaned on him or trusted him when of course he would have comforted her. She takes everything out on him instead, biting off his head at every moment and not even caring that he has his own problems and troubles to deal with. That is the point of having a significant other, right?

What's really sad is William is too nice. Just bends over and takes it all.

Well stated! You're supposed to stick together, not try and walk all over your partner just because you can! William is a kind and decent man, Mary is a self righteous b!t@h!

I'm watching the episode where Mary's being insufferable and I'm tempted to stop watching the rest of the season! I know the writers need to add tension and create drama but this is so contrived and out of character that it just feels forced. I'm watching one more episode and if this melodrama isn't put to rest I'm going on to Doc Martin! (What's the deal with Martin Clunes? He's in so many of the shows I'm watching on Acorn. He's not the usual leading man kind of guy. I like him and I think he's talented though.)

My wife and I hate her more every episode. Fortunately, we are almost at the end. She's an ornery lowlife and so are all the other members of her family.

She was okay at first, but as the series went on, she became more and more insufferable.
