I wonder if she had a stunt-double do the 'dirty imagination kissing scene' we saw flashes of, with him being naked and all over her. Über-gross.

Comic relief and also to drive home the point that being able to read minds can be terrible thing, which is one of the main sources of drama in the movie. It was meant to show that, even though she's doing much better after the training she received from Dr. Welles, her telepathy can still backfire badly if she is not careful.
