Budget?

Anyone know what the budget of Returner? Perhaps in the region of $10-$20 million? I think this could have been much better if a few extra mil. had been ploughed into it, but it was still pretty decent. Anyways, was just wondering if anyone knew what the budget was, cheers. :-)

I'm not sure what the budget was but I'm sure it was quite less the most american films...but it looked pretty damn good in some parts....i'm sure a larger budget would have enabled more elaborate scenes

...and better actors

Dude, the actors are alright in this movie, Takeshi Kaneshiro is a fine actor and the rest of the cast was descent too, except the American guy in the future which was pretty horrible.
All the actors were certainly better than crap Keanu Reeves and some other highly paid American actors.

For instance, it is still beyond my understanding why people flock to see Ben Affleck in a movie.

I'd watch a movie with Takeshi Kaneshiro anytime, he's way cool, and cute I migt add.

the actors were great. maybe except the girl.

but the cgi squences is the ones i liked the least.

I loved the futuristic battle sequences in the film. That was the real highlight for me. They were simply cool. The action sequences were some of the best I've seen as of late sinec Hollywood hasn't made a true action movie like this in years. Sure the plot was simplistic, redundant, and taken from many other films, but the movie was still pretty good. The only actors that i did not enjoy was the General or American during the future battles. He was absolutely horrible and didn't show any emotion or characteristics of what a person would act during a battle or invasion.

The two lead actors are the ones that make this film a step above the rest of the usual sci-fi action type films. They added so much heart to this film, very unusual, you really cared about them and you could see the chemistry in the between the characters (which wasn't sexual for a change).

especially since she's from the future. It's funny how noone thinks that if they did have something sexual. What if that turned out to be her great grandfather or something?lol

If humanity had to leave everything and everyone they love behind who probably died and go to one place they probably wouldn't know who their family was etc. It would have been lost.

extra cash doesn't make a movie any better. Sometimes it can make a movie worse. It's the story, talent, skill, heart that can make a movie good, great even. Even when it's cheesy because you know heart was really put into the film. There are no-budget movies that are great.

Be sure to watch it w/out English or French Dubs. In fact don't ever watch ANY movie w/their dubs. There is a absolutely no reason to watch any movie dubbed. In fact a good film can be say 8/10 can be knocked down to 5/10 or less if you watch it w/a different language other than what it was done in. Not only are the people doing the dubbing usually not good actors to begin with, (why would they be dubbing if they were good actors?) if you put on the sub-titles, you will see that you miss out on a lot of the dialog because they aren't usually saying the exact things the sub-titles say. They are trying to fit it to (no matter how pathetic and bad it is) the way the actors lips move. I don't know who thinks that's fooling anybody, but it is a waste of money. Those that are too lazy to read them don't deserve to watch those films to begin with. I remember distinctly the last movie I saw in theaters that had dubbing. It was Jackie Chan's big coming out to American audiences movie "Rumble in the Bronx." I myself as well as most of the audience thought that it was a joke! When it went 1, then 2 then 10 minutes long, it was terrible. I don't remember exactly but I think this was before Jackie was doing his own dubbing, so as bad as his English is it was worse w/another actors voice. If it weren't for the highly & the then unseen fight scenes (shopping Cart anyone?) in the film it would have been a total joke. So don't ever watch films dubbed other than the language it was filmed in otherwise you'll miss out on some of the best films the WORLD has to offer.
