Milly

Alright, I just want to say that I have never liked a movie character as much as I liked Milly. A lot of that is probably due to Anne Suzuki's marvelous acting. The connection that grew from the movie to me felt absurdly close to a real-life, interpersonal relationship. Sorry if that sounds silly, but it's true. Did anybody else feel that, or was it just me (I'm sort of expecting the latter)?

Actually, I, also, felt a strange friendship like sense towards Milly. She'd seems like she'd be a fun character to hang out with, and take out places and introduce to people in the present. And yes, I do think it's because of Anne Suzuki's spectacular acting.

I can't say that she is hot though, since I have seen in films and TV when she was 11 and 12 ... :(

reply

Heh. I understand. Watching that was sort of like "she's cute" and then "I think she's way too young"

Anne was great as Milly. She was my favorite character in the movie. I've been wanting to see more of her work. Any recommendations?

Who says violence is not the answer?

I first saw her in Snow Falling On Cedars. She was young like 12 or something. It's an American film and she plays the young version of one of the main characters. You can see she's a good actress even from such a young age.

Also, Hana tu Arisu (Hana and Alice) is a Japanese film. It's supposed to be very good (in an arty way) - I've ordered it and will watch it as soon as it arrives.

She is in Initial D - another Japanese film about street racing.

I too loved the character Millie. I also thought Miyamoto was cool as hell. To me it seemed a reverse of THE TERMINATOR, where the Sarah Conner character is the one who travels back and time and has to get this film's Kyle Reese (who in this film is the one who is native to the present day,) to help her save the future.

I saw this film dubbed in English (anytime I watch a foreign-language film I prefer dubbed over subtitles,) and I thought her ADR voice actor fit her nicely. Anyone else agree or disagree with me?

reply

I agree. Anne Suzuki's acting was excellent. She put real emotion and a character into Milly. I loved when she was crying as she at 'al dente' - I could really sense her emotion, being from a future where she's alone and aliens are taking over, coming to now when she has a friend and has great food.

Anne Suzuki definitely stole the show. I thought the acting all around was pretty good, but she was just phenomenal. I can't wait to see more of her work.

I liked Milly as well, she was a very nice character, and cute too. Plus, she looks somewhat like my former girlfriend. ^^

She was adorable...
I love the scene in the car.

Milly: This dress is so short, my legs are cold!
Him: You love it.
Milly: Err...no... I .. um.. don't.

That was so cute.
