At least the americans liked it... *cough*

Are there any americans here that had any real clue about this film? Also did any of you notice how the "royals" were speaking in American English?

Come on lads, We know theres some of you with brains out there. Read all the user comments on this films imdb page. Is that a pattern I see ;)

Needless to say. Don't believe all the golden brown guff you see on TV... Research is a good thing!

Just because America happens to be a Super power does not mean you have to be bitter. We are not the ones wasting our tax dollers on use less royalty.

reply

oooh! America is a super power!!!! wow got anything else?

Hey

Don't hate the messenger...

reply

I don't waste them on royalty. I live in Ireland :D

No need to get yer feathers ruffled though. Now can you actually reply to the actual post?

reply

I hardly call royalty "useless" lunaStar

reply

Why do you assume that this post was made because the author is bitter of America's superpower status?

Retarded logic central..

reply

Explains why she didn't come back and re-read and re-reply to what I actually said!

the British tax payer pays 17 pence a year on the queen.

not much really but i still think having a royal family is pointless.

reply

17 pence per year on the Queen is nothing compared to how much Americans are paying for this "War on Terror".

Plus, we like the Queen! =) Well, some of us.

It's called the Underground.

But it's clear from your post that you didn't note the sarcasm. Welcome to the thousand.

By the way, Prince William would be on the dole now if we didn't pay him to sit back and occasionally cut ribbons. He wouldn't be so attractive then eh! ;)

Im not a big fan of the royals, but it cost every british tax payer 67pence a year to keep the royals, yet they generate far more in tourisim. In my opinon I might not love them, but they do bring in a vast amount of American tourists who tend to spend a pretty penny to help our economy. So I am in no means bitter to the Americans who are probley wasting more money on the royal family than we are.

Besides it costs more for you to keep Bush in power than it does for us to keep the royals.

Also for being such a big superpower can I just say $2 to £1.

Which country has at the moment got the strongest economy, Ill give you a clue its not America.

As a matter of fact I did notice the american lingo. But I am an American and I did not like this film. Despite the image our politicians give the world, we are not all idiots. The dialouge was corny and the story line, with the exception to Princess Diana's death, was speculation.

reply

I noticed the American lingo too - I have never heard anyone in Britain ever call someone a "jerk"! Nor do we say "make out".

reply

Well I'm very glad you posted to let us know that!

But my intention of this thread wasn't meant to say that I did think "all" Americans were idiots...

Just the ones who reviewed this film ;) and those politicians... and some actors *coughtomcruisecough*

Sure sounded like it to me! Just because the current occupant in the White House is an idiot does not mean we all are. Hell, it would be rediculous to judge all Brits by some of the royals antics, especially our wonderful little angel Prince Harry.

reply

I'll give you a chance to read it again then shall I? Try to make sence of it this time. It's not hard!

Judging Brits on prince Harry's "antics"? That's a new one! He's 21 years old for Gods sake. Anything he get's up to now has been done to death (By the British in fact) and the only reason anyone cares is because he's Charlies son.

-VM-

reply

I am 21 too, so I don't put his antics down to age because I know most of us are mature enough to no better. As for the movie, no I don't believe in that kind of fluff.

reply

I fail to see how I put anything down to age here? His age is just a mere reflection of the times he is living in. As in, they did it all before in the sixties, just look at the Beatles. Anything he does or will do has allready been done and is by no means "extreem". The only reason it gets so much press is because he is in the public eye in a big way. Understand?

I refused to watch the movie. I thought it was being done in poor taste. I respect the Royals. I don't know everything that goes on of course because I'm an American and so the British will know more then I do about them but I do believe they do deserve there privacy. Unlike celebrities they didn't ask to be into the lime light.
Celebrities choose to become so; The Royals don't have a choice.

reply

You've a good point. Although I doubt this film moved any mountains. It just was that bad.

I'd like to see the new film about the Queen however. I've heard a bit of talk about that one. At least the actors in it are pretty good anyway.

It's just a bit of entertainment on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I wasn't expecting The History Channel, after all. Of course we know they took liberties with private conversations and all...total fiction, certainly. Though yes, the American accents (not very good ones) and slang were distracting.

And there's no reason to assume that William & Harry didn't have an adjustment period after their mother's death. Certainly plausable to have more than a few tears, especially since her passing was so sudden and unexpected. They are human, after all.

I though this film was okay as a nice fitional story based 15% on thee Prince William, I never once saw the film as 100% true to real events, I'm not stupid. It depends how you watch the film, if you watch it as fiction not taking it seriously, it's entertaining, but if watch is as if it were an actual bio, then it's rubbish. The same goes for the movie Norma Jean and Marilyn. I never once expected the Prince William movie to be brilliant and true, I expected it to be entertaining and good waste of time...plus the guy who played Prince William was HOT

The teeny bopper in me gives me three stars out of five, the film student part gives it .3 star out of five stars

I'm an American, and I saw the film, and I can say it's crap - it had cheesy dialogue and inaccurate portrayal of certain events.

So yes, there are Americans (before bitching at anyone about research or whatever, try capitalizing your nouns - or are Americans just not good enough to you?) who have a real clue about this film and the events it tried (and failed) to portray. Most of them (me excluded) have better things to do than come on this board and surpass your lofty expectations.
