Damn good movie....poolhall junkies will not be outdone.

Just because it's a story about pool doesn't make it a rip off a Pool Hall Junkies. Just like every movie that has to do with college is compared to Animal House, and it gets annoying. Any poker movie made after Rounders will be compared to that. What about comparing every poker movie to The Cincinnati Kid, or every pool movie to The Hustler?.........Let each movie be it's own.

Nice point, onlyindreams. Why not compare every movie about drugs be compared to Half-Baked. Or every football movie be compared to The Longest Yard or The Replacements?

Poolhall Junkies is an abomination to the sport and no self-respecting POOL PLAYER would watch it twice. Otherwise, it's a ball-banger's dream.

Anybody into pool movies, i highly recomend Stickmen. It's a new zealand movie, go check it out. Better than poolhall junkies if you ask me.

stickmen unfortunatly was horrible. i found it shortly after i watched poolhall junkies...and i was very dissapointed. i dont recommend it at all.

Stickmen is a great film, one of my favourite Pool films. I live in NZ so the DVD is easy for me to get hold of - if anyone is interested - email is [email protected].

The basic storyline is:
Every year there is a big pool (doubles) competition. A group of mates (Jack, Wayne and Thomas)enter the tournament. The plot spends some time in each of the 3 main character's lives- their relationships, philosophies, etc. Each round of the tournament is a knockout, so most of the drama comes from wondering who are going to be the next competitors. There are some interesting characters throughout the film, the soundtrack is fairly decent, it's got homour (very New Zealand humour), and of course it's got pool! Most of the scenes aren't brilliant pool like poolhall junkies is, but there are some fairly decent plays, and one scene in particular where Wayne is a 'drunken master'... you'll have to watch to find this one out! Overall, it is a great film and one which you will want to watch over and over - not particularly for the pool, but for the humour and everything else that's thrown in the mix.

Very enjoyable!
(Hope poolhall prophets is a decent movie- does anyone know of a release date?)

Working in the video/DVD rental business for five years, despite absolutely loving Stickmen, I have to admit that it is a film that splits people's opinions right down the middle. Some love it, others despise it. Clearly, being an Entertainment Professional my opinion is as good as fact and I know Stickmen is an absolute class film. From the banging soundtrack to the great characters, sexy cinematography and sorted plot, to the excellent pool playing (the actors trained with a pro for several weeks before shooting bagan) it is as good as it gets - blows Poolhall Junkies and Shooting Gallery off the baize! So there.

"..I'll bleed you, real quiet, and leave you here. Got that?!"

LOL, actually pool hall junkies ripped off prophets. the same company that had prophets let the option expire and lost the film. then they fast tracked a rip-off and payed the price(box office failure) Info for you

It's not a ripoff sport, it's a brand new story about corruption and there's not much pool, it's just that the main character likes it!

Well well,

Lets start with the fact that poolhall junkies is an terrible piece of acting. The pool playing is good now and then, but the trick that C walken perform, and later the guy (with one hand) is an easy trick! i can do it to. Stickmen is a good movie, if you lik eplaying pool in the bar,,, I could find myself in this movie. Dont even touch color of money and the Hustler thos are briliant!!!
