Please Help!

Hello all, My mom bought me this game for Christmas in 2004, but it didn't work because it said I need Directx and a "Compatible video card with hardware T and L". I had to return it, and now (2007) my best friend bought me this game but, I was hoping it'd work since now I have a wayyy better computer, but still the same problem shows up -Install "Direct X" and a "Compatible video card with hardware T and L". I installed Direct X, now my only problem is the video card with hardware T and L. Can someone please tell me what to do or what I necessarily need. I went to Circuit City and asked for help but they weren't much help! Please help.
