Is there as much trash-talk in real life games?

I notice in this, and other MLB movies, there is a lot of trash-talking going on. The profanity is rampant.

Does a pitcher really taunt the batter by cursing at him. Does the batter really talk under his breath to the catcher, with the umpire putting in his 2-cents. I think it's just exaggerated.

Definitely. The worst of it was undoubtedly when Jackie Robinson first came into the majors and some of the white ballplayers would hurl all sorts of racial insults at him. Sometimes it was more than trash talk. Some catchers (Roy Campanella and Bob Uecker come to mind) would be especially chatty with opposing batters to disrupt their concentration.
