Wow, that is one talented kitty.
That cat looked pretty unique, so I assume that they used one cat.
How long did the cat scenes take to shoot?

i suspect that it's rivette's own cat (tho that's only going by the photo behind the extras menu of the artificial eye dvd). he obviously has a thing for them (see the great final shot of celine and julie!) Very cute, no doubt, but i'm not sure it's especially talented (in fact, having read this post before the film i was mildly disappointed, but that's my own fault rather than yours). In fact, it is visibly perturbed by the camera in its first scene, laying on julien's stomach. unusually large eyes, tho. ah, what a cutie!

The cat appears in the film's credits at the end, which list "Animaux" as provided by Fauna et Film. Nevermore was played by Gaspard (I didn't manage to catch the trainer's name). He was amazingly well trained and was one of the film's highlights for me, his jingling bell telling us that like a revenant he was there but not always visible.
