This is obviously a rip-off of MEG

A horrible rip-off, I might add. The words "Jurassic Shark" are even on the back cover of the novel and also on the website. MEG fans speak out against this, please. This has gone on too far with movies like "Shark Attack 3: Megalodon" and "Shark Hunter."

As far as I know, this movie is NOT based on any novel. And what website are you referring to? Also, any idea when this movie will be in video stores?

Thanks...

What "novel" are you speaking of? The movie is now called SHARK ZONE. It's no less a ripoff of SHARK ATTACK 3, than the latter was of SHARK ATTACK 2, etc. You some kinda shitty shark movie purist, or something?

Get a life.

From what I understand, MEG is about a prehistoric shark. From the plot summary of MEG, I can see that a few ideas were lifted from MEG. They might have called the movie Jurassic Shark at one point in time, but nothing in the movie even supports the idea that the sharks were "Jurassic". They were just normal sharks that happened to kill humans. To say that this movie was ripping off MEG would be giving it far too much credit.

Well, MEG is the crappiest book I've ever read. Its about as wellwritten as Shark attack 3 and rips out huge chunks of plot straight from Jaws so its not something to bitch about.

i just got finished reading Meg, the trench, and Meg 2 and i thought Steve Alten did a great job i thoroughly enjoyed all three of the books. i was wondering if there was a movie based on them though if anyone knows please let me know.

First of all, I am reading MEG: Primal Waters, and they aren't taking anything from that book. The only thing that is used in the movie that is used in the book, is the Spanish Galleon. And that is it. Now, if you want me to get to the movie ripping off Jaws, then I will. This movie blantely rips off Jaws I and Jaws II. The whole "not closing the beach" scenerio. The family characteristics. The whole problem with Jimmy not going back into the water, is taken from Jaws II.

... Not saying that any shark movie today ISN'T ripping off Jaws. But, I simply pointing the ripping-off parts for this particular movie.

Yes, there is a movie in the works based on the Meg Saga by Steve Alton.. Personally, I loved all 3 books: Meg, Meg: The Trench, & Meg: Primal Waters.. I even wrote Steve Alton and thanked him for entertaining me with his books.. From what I understand from Steve Alton, a couple of movie studios had nibbled at the idea of making a film, but they didn't pan out.. Then one studio decided to go with it and filming has already started and the movie is planned for a July 2006 release.. If the movie studios don't screw with the book the way they do when making most movies from books, the movie should turn out to be a real winner.. And the book Meg 4 is in the works and should be out in bookstores in a couple years.. The Meg Saga can not be compared to the B Movie Jaws wannabees of late and past.. The Meg Saga is all original and written to entertain the masses.. And unlike other shark movies, Alton's "science" in the books is accurate and precise.. I was highly impressed and I'm not easy to impress.. I thought Jaws pailed in comparison.. But that's me..

A horible rip off of what? Jaws? Yes. Meg? Umm no there is so little that resembles Meg thatto even mention them in the same breath is wrong. Unfortunatly since JAWS came out there will be very little that comes out shark movie wise that will be interesting and not cheese.

reply

And MEG is a ripoff of JAWS.
