There was a lot to like in this flick - stylistically it may not have been original, but it was done very well. The chase scenes and the stunts were well handled, and the acting was decent. SPOILERS NOW Unfortunately, some of the ideas in the film needed to be sent back to the idea factory for further testing and analysis; number one being the idea of the killer driving around in the same distinctive vehicle (with busted headlights, no less!) doing the same thing for a couple of years (and grabbing souvenirs let us not forget) and encountering no difficulty. There's a lot of stuff like that that puts the film purely in the arena of fantasy, and I suppose you need to make your decision early on as to whether you want to be in on it or not. There's never anybody on the road - even in fairly urban settings - at the crucial times. Sure that's unlikely but possible, but would anybody count on that? The scene with the Saab was just silly, and Barracuda guy's "sixth sense" for where the killer is doesn't come close to washing even with his explanation of his habits. The final shot is awful, if the inspector was going to kill an obvious non-threat with a dozen cops nearby he would certainly find a way do it more quietly.
Anyhow, not a terrible way to spend 90 minutes, but yes - a little disappointing.
