Think maybe Quentin Tarantino saw this?

Basically this is a movie for fans of muscle cars, B grade chase movies, comically twisted bad guys, and beautiful women.
It is a lot like the tone and style of movie Quentin Tarantino homaged with Death Proof.
Cept this one was made in 2003...and no tongue ever in cheek.

there have been made plenty movies like these I think. Black Cadillac, Jeepers Creepers (a bit at least), Joyride

he could've taken inspiration from all of them.

Death Proof was worse. Too much god damn talking killer. I'm sure even Kevin Williamson of Scream fame wanted to put a pencil in his eye while watching Death Proof.

This movie was a lot better than 'Death Proof' in my opinion. I love Tarantino but think that his movie was a misfire. HIGHWAYMEN is much, much better.
