Old Medley

I have to say, the Old Medley performance on this DVD has to be one of the greatest live performances ever. The songs were put together so well. Phil's renditions of the Peter Gabriel era songs are improvements over the originals (in my opinion at least), the instrumental section from Firth of Fifth is amazing (I happen to like Daryl Stuermer's performance of the solo better than Steve Hackett's... it just has more power). And of course, Phil's tambourine dance is great.

Of the live medleys that I've heard them do, the Old Medley is without a doubt the best one. It's a shame they're not doing it again for the Turn It On Again tour.

I think Old Medley is under-appreciated myself. It is interesting to hear all those songs, as Phil puts it, strung together. I still like In the Cage myself (partly because of that transition from In the Cage to Cinema Show), but, yeah, it's ballin', and Daryl Stuermer does an excellent job, as does Chester with the Double-Drum parts.
From what I've heard, other fans had a very mixed reaction to the Old Medley. Such Medleys were not unprecedented; on the Mama Tour for instance, there was another Old Medley. Ah well. Just another part of the old "Collins-Gabriel" debate.
Nice to see another person who prefers Collins but appreciates Gabriel. ;)

I like it too, it's what first introduced me to some of the early genesis songs.

I loved the old medley too, but it made me miss Peter Gabriel even more. Still, this is a great showcase of Genesis, old and new, and the band is incredible.
