um...horrible much?

This moive is literally an embarrassment. The songs, the acting, and the faux dancing are all fake and...for lack of a better word, h.o.r.r.i.b.l.e. Horrible. I would be mortified if I saw my sister or anyone I even remotely knew in this movie. Watching Raven and her little 'cronies' makes me angry. Yes, it's just that stupid. It frustrates me to watch such a horrible plotline that actually got the go to be made into a production. Even the younger kids I knew think it's stupid.

"What makes a guy start drooling? Chase, were you wearing your short-shorts?"

It was a tween girl group movie. Four High School Freshman girls trying to make it in the music industry. They have conflicts and try to get together in the end. Some of the stuff was unbelivable, but it was better than garbage like Pixel Perfect and High School Musical. Not to mention it was Disney's biggest success.

reply

No, I believe the High School Musical franchise was Disney Channel's biggest success. Not this piece of garbage movie.

And considering HSM 2 just blew away cable ratings records, The "Cheetah Girl" movies will never capture the fame and success that High School Musical has.

reply

Well,

*The Cheetah Girls had two combined soudtracks that sold over 3 million copies.

*The Cheetah Girls had two succesful sold out concert tours.

*Their last movie topped HSM in the ratings.

*They had two Billboard Hot 100 hits.

*They also have huge merchandise and their DVD's sold millions.

I think that says how both CGs movies are bigger than the overrated HSM.

reply

I can't believe I'm arguing about this buuutt I have to because I despise the Cheetah Girls movies and Raven so much.

I could go on forever for how much bigger HSM is than the the CG movies.

First of all, HSM 2 broke so many records with its ratings and blew away Cheetah Girls and everything else in the cable ratings. Over 17 million on premiere night. It was the highest rated basic cable broadcast of all time and the most-watched made for cable movie ever.

The only reason CG beat HSM in ratings was because at the time of HSM's premiere, nobody knew how big it would get and it got bigger and more watched by word of mouth. But again, that doesn't matter because HSM 2 blew away all ratings records anyway.

It's had hundreds of sold-out concerts and plays all over the country, not to mention thousands of school and community theater productions. There's also been successful HSM plays in other countries.

Millions of DVDs have been sold. It broke DVD sales records too.

Lots of the songs from HSM have been on the Billboard Hot hits.

The HSM soundtrack was the year's best-selling album.

The stars of High School Musical are all over the cover of magazines, articles, and even on the news.

They also have a daily HSM parade going on in Disney World at MGM Studios.

I know HSM can be overrated. I like HSM, but I'm not obsessed about it. I like the songs. And I will admit HSM 2 is not as good as the first (what sequel is?) and I like the songs better in the first movie. And I do believe that there was way too much hype over the second movie. I knew it wouldn't be as good as the first.

I don't have all the statistics, but I think it's pretty clear that HSM is Disney Channel's biggest franchise. It's been said on news programs and magazine articles all over, not to mention it's all over the Disney Channel.

reply

Well, I'm about to respond to your post. The Cheetah Girls have been around three years (actually longer, since 1999) than High School Musical (which is extremely overrated). The Cheetah Girls started as a top selling book series (over 13 million books in print, bigger than the HSM books). They had two sold out tours and made more money (in 2005 and 2006) than the HSM tour did (in 2007).

The Cheetah Girls 3 will top HSM2 just like CG2 topped HSM in the ratings. It's like a cycle.

Raven is much more successful than Zac Efron. The other Cheetah Girls are more successful and had previous albums sell more than Tisdale, Hudgens, Corbin Bleu. 3LW's first album sold more than all three of their albums combined.

The Cheetah Girls are featured in te same magazines as the HSM stars. And they had successful worldwide promotion.

The tickets for their tour sold out within seconds/less than an hour. A RECORD.

The Cheetah Girls were nominated for many awards (Image awards, ALMA awards, etc.) Anything HSM has, the CGs have.

I'm pretty sure that Cheetah Girl 3 next year (with their two sold out tours) will receive over 20 million viewers next year. Then you'll be eating dust.

reply

Well, we'll just have to wait and see if CG 3 will top the ratings. I doubt their crud will receive over 17 millions viewers. And once again HSM 3 will eat you dust! Oh wait, that's right. You might not be able to compare CG 3 to HSM 3 because they might just make HSM 3 into a big screen film. See if CG can top that! I don't see CG making it onto the big screen. And speaking of Raven, it doesn't look like she'll even be appearing in CG 3 because she's all over herself and thinks she's Miss Thing and too good for the Cheetah Girls when she's not.

And I don't even want to get into how much That's So Raven sucks and how her fashion sense in the later seasons of that show makes me want to puke, but it looks like someone has already puked over her clothes.

But no matter what you say HSM is still more popular and a bigger success that CG. It's been said many MANY times by affiliates of Disney Channel, by news anchors, by magazine people.

I don't see school productions of CG. I've seen High School Musical productions, tho.

I never saw CG on Inside Edition before CG 2 came out, but I did see a blurb of the premiere of High School Musical 2 on Inside Edition.

I don't see an entire special edition of People magazine devoted entirely to the cast of CG, but I did see special editions of People devoted entirely to High School Musical. Not to mention that Zac Efron was on the cover of Rolling Stone. I don't see Raven on the cover of any magazines.

And the only reason you think Raven's been more successful is because she's been acting since she was 3. Zac JUST got discovered so it's biased to compare the two.

And you seem to know the names of the cast of HSM, which just goes to prove that their names are more known than the CG people. Besides Raven, I don't even know who the hell the other girls are. I don't even know their names and I doubt a lot of people do.

The HSM cast have only been around for a year so they still have plenty of time to keep touring and making money-more than CG will ever see. The HSM is already touring 60 cities and playing for sold-out crowds.

Anything CG has, HSM have plus more-MUCH MUCH MORE!

reply

I think based on POPULARITY, high school musical is moreeeeeeeeee popular. Might be 1000x popular than CG series combined. Since we have Zac efron that is really famous now.... Heehehee...

Anyway, I love ashley tisdale. Dunno why LOL. I just get a good vibe from her.
And from CG, I love Raven and Sabrina.

Well, to be honest, based on the storyline, CG is better. Based on acting, some of CGirls is better.
But HSM2 is still more popularrrrr.... I believe and admit that it's really overrated and overadvertised.

I was so surprised when my friend who is like 25 and say to me, Hey, don't you want to watch High school musical 2 ? and i was like, What ? how do you know that ? and he said he read it in paper, it's been there for a week.... HAHA.... I was like, WHOA ....

I myself can't see CG3 top HSM2 since Raven is not going to be there.....

and this might be also the reason why HSM is more popular.
Their dance moves and singing is easy. It's easy to sing gotta go my own way or breaking free combined than Step up.
It's easier to dance work this out ( which is hard.. hehe ) than sabrina's tango dance with DANCE WITH ME song.

and I hate how they always say CHEETAH all the times....
haha, at least now i have to say i hate how in HSM2 , they said WILCATS too much too.....

What happened if I am famous ??

Well, I slightly agree with Din88. However, I still believe that whatever the HSM cast, the CGs are doing it ten times better. And they are VERY POPULAR. Just look at all of their accomplishments.

Raven is starring in two upcoming movies (College Road Trip and Further Adventures In Babysitting). What other movies is Zac doing? Exactly. Raven has been on the covers of magazines such as Vanity Fair and pretty sure more next year. Zac will end up like JTT, another washed up teen idol.

3LW's debut album sold over 1.3 million. That's more than Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu and Vanessa Hudgens's albums sold COMBINED. 3LW was all the time on MTV, BET, etc. Tisdale and Hudgens are Disney girls.

I'm pretty sure The Cheetah Girls 3 will do very well, seeing how anticipated CG2 was and how it crushed HSM in the ratings. And I'm pretty sure CG3 will do the same. Cheetah Girls did it first and they will FINISH it.

reply

Like I said we'll just have to wait until CG 3 comes out then, won't we?

Even if they are popular, High School Musical is still more popular.

Once again, the only reason CG 2 smashed the ratings of HSM is because the success of HSM was due to word of mouth. People watched it, talked about to other people, and more and more people watched it and now it's been watched by millions so it doesn't matter that CG 2 beat HSM in the ratings. It was CG's second movie! It was only HSM's first movie so before CG 2 came out, it was the most successful Disney Channel movie so it still smashed the first CG movie. And as we all know, HSM 2 smashed everything.

I still don't think CG 3 will beat HSM 2 in the ratings.

Wow...I'm pretty sure this is the stupidest argument I've ever been in.

reply

^^And isnt that your fault?

Cheetah Girls are High School Musical's biggest rivals in Popularity. And I'm pretty sure that the Cheetah Girls' debut album next month will sell millions as well.

People kept talking about how it would be impossible for CG2 to top HSM, yet it did. Which tells many that good things should happen for CG3.

reply

Ya, I know it's my fault, but what can I say? I like a good fight.

Look, I like HSM, but I'm not obsessed. I just hate Raven and the Cheetah Girls movie. Actually, I can't stand Raven and think her show should be entitled, "That's So Stupid" or "That's So Sucky!"

But when you said CG is Disney's biggest success, I just had to disagree and note that HSM is Disney Channel's biggest success and their most successful original movie. Screw the ratings of the first one. It still did pretty good on premiere night compared to past original movie night premieres. The only reason CG 2 beat them in the ratings was because there had already been a CG movie whereas it was HSM's first movie and nobody knew how good it was except those 7 mil that watched it on premiere night. And as the year went by, millions more started watching it because people passed the word around about the movie being good.

It's a shame we have to wait a year to wait until HSM 2 beats CG 3 in the ratings. I know for a fact that CG 3 won't top 17 million viewers on premiere night.

reply

Well, we shall see. And as I said, I'm not obsessed with the Cheetah Girls. I just like the movies and they've been really successful.

Too bad you're like the only one that hates "That's So Raven". It's the second highest rated show on Disney Channel of all time. An it was nominated for two Emmy Awards.

Stop making excuses for the HSM crew. They got whipped in the ratings by the Cheetah Girls 2 movie. At least people can watch the CG2 movie without feeling nauseous by bad singing and acting (which is in HSM movies).

The HSM stars could learn a thing or two from the Cheetah Girls. The Cheetah Girls actually have talent. They can actually SING and dance. Raven didn't have anyone else sing for her in the movies. And none of the girls were being divas asking for more than $1 million for the movies.

When it comes to album sales:

The soundtrack for the first movie sold 2 million copies while the soundrack for the second one sold over 1.3 million.

*The Cheetah Girls 2 soundtrack debuted at #5 on the charts with 90,000 while the HSM soundtrack debuted at #143 with just 6,000 copies.

*They've been on Good Morning America, Extra, Access Hollywood, the Early Show, the TODAY show, etc.

*Here is some more on the Cheetah Girls success:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=0JxPIGR_mL0&mode=related&search=

I have no doubt the Cheetah Girls will top High School Musical again.

reply

Umm...no, everybody I know hates That's So Raven and can't stand it. So I'm not the only one who hates it.

I really don't care that it's the second highest rated or whatever because I can't stand that show. When this show first came on, it was like they were trying to make Raven a black Hilary Duff. The show is unfunny and Raven's fashion sense is disgusting. I mean, seriously, how many costumes can she go thru throughout the show's run? From the previews, it's so annoying how she's dressed up as various people and it's really unbelievable that people don't recognize her. And I don't know how the viewers can't get sick of her always dressing up as people to get out of trouble. And don't even get me started on her dim-witted friend Chelsea. That girl is too dumb for words--nobody is that dumb in real life and if they are, then that's pretty sad. I don't care if it's for comedic effect. It's just dumb and not funny.

If you wanna talk about a show that is actually funny, let's talk about Hannah MOntana. I love that show!

And HSM did NOT get whipped in the ratings by CG 2. They got7.7 mil on premiere night, CG 2 got 8.3 mil. I wouldn't call that whipped. If you want to talk about being whipped, I would say HSM 2 w/ its 17.3 mil viewers whipped both. Now that's what I call whipped--over twice as many viewers.

I don't care about CG's album sales. Once again, HSM was the best-selling album of 2006. 3.7 million sales. I think that beats CG's sales. HSM also climbed to #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. We'll just have to wait and see how much the second one sells.

And all those teen magazines have articles and features about the cast of HSM. I never see them talking about the CHeetah Girls.

You had mentioned CG has everything HSM has. I don't think so cuz HSM has a Disney World parade going on every day in MGM Studios. CG never had a parade.

I really wish we didn't have to wait for 2008 to come for the third movies to come out. CG 3 will not top 17.3 million and if it unlikely does, you've still got HSM 3 to top. Oh, that's right, you can't compare it cuz they're turning HSM 3 into a big-screen movie and that shows that HSM is more popular...and successful.

reply

So what if HSM3 goes to theaters? It could be a huge flop because people like seeing it on TV. I doubt that many would see it in theaters. The film would tank. Then the Cheetah Girls 3 would be huge.

Many people loved TSR and they've got the ratings to prove it.

And so what that the HSM soundtrack was the best selling album of last year, the CG2 soundtrack was one of the top 40 best selling albums of the year.

It was the FIRST DCOM to sell a million copies on DVD.

It was the second best selling soundtrack of 2004.

The Cheetah Girls recent tour grossed more than $26 million and it was an 86 city date tour. More than HSM's tour ($25 million).

From Billboard.biz.com:

Cheetah Girls will appear on 50 million boxes of Kraft Macoroni & Cheese. They'll even have a singing poster and a Nintendo video game along with an exclusive Build A Bear.

Kiely Williams will be in the movie "The Bunny House" with Anna Ferris and Adam Sandler. She and Raven are starring on the big screen, while the HSM cast (besides Zac) are doing HSM things.

Billboard.biz.com said "Another success for Walt Disney's hugest success, the Cheetah Girls franchise).

They have a clothing line, dolls, books, video games, CDs, Mac and Cheese etc. They dont need cheesy things like a pep rally or an ice tour. They already have everything else.

Their HSM's rivals for success. And you have to be crazy to believe the CG3 would not do well in the ratings.

Now you tell me if HSM can top that and I'll be done.

reply

Since its premiere in January 2006, High School Musical has been seen by roughly 160 million people, according to Disney. It has generated $500 million in sales of DVDs, soundtracks (it was the No. 1 album of any type for 2006) and other retail items. There has been a concert tour by the cast and a stage version that just opened in Chicago. An ice show premieres in New York next month. The movie also has inspired about 2,000 real-life high school musical productions, Disney says.

The only reason you say ice tours and pep rallies are cheesy is because CG doesn't have that kind of cool stuff and isn't worthy of that like HSM is.
HSM also has a clothing line, books, CDS, dolls, videos, concert tours, concert DVDs, and so much more. I also found it funny that in the concert DVD, even the parents of the kids were singing along to the songs, which just goes to show how popular their songs are.

And so what if CG 2 was ONE OF the best selling albums. HSM was THE BEST. It was not JUST one OF, it WAS the NUMBER ONE. And HSM2 is already topping the Billboard 200 list and it just came out. In fact, it sold 615,000 copies in its first week and was the second biggest opening of the year, second only to Linkin Park.

And I don't really care if ratings show that TSR is popular or whatever. I really REALLY hate that show and in my opinion, it is one of Disney Channel's stupidest creations ever. I'll admit, I used to like Raven--she was cute when she was younger and she didn't seem so full of herself. But I really started to dislike her when this show came on.

The only reason it's probably got good ratings is because the majority of their viewers are little kids that don't know any better yet and laugh at anything.

And if CG is so good, why did Raven drop out of it? It's like she thinks she's too good for them. She dropped from them because she wanted to go solo. Well, I have not heard one song from her. I don't even know a song by her so going solo hasn't seemed to be very successful for her.

And almost everybody I know has seen HSM and loves it, but nobody has seen CG. My friend whose seen neither still knows the HSM cast by name, but doesn't know anybody from CG, which just goes to show how much more well-known HSM actors are than CG. HEck, like I said, I only know Raven and nobody else. I don't know their names or anything.

There is actually one thing I will agree with you on. I'll admit...I don't know why HSM 3 is going to theaters. I actually do think it just might flop. I think it's a dumb idea and they should just stick with TV. At first it was going to be a Haunted High School musical, but now it's like prom or some kind of dance. I really wish they'd go back to Haunted High idea because it sounds like a better plot than a dance.

So honestly, you really can't compare CG 3 and HSM 3 cuz one you have to pay to go see and don't know how many viewers will see it and the other one gets measured by viewers and you can watch it for free.

I had more to say but when I clicked the submit button, an error came up and everything I had written was gone.

reply

Only 615,000? I thought with all the "hype" it got, it should've went past 1 million int their first week. And Linkin Park still topped them.

At least we agree on something. Yeah, the HSM has those stuff, but the thing is:

That's So Raven has grossed $400 million in revenue while the CGs made $100 million in revenue.

If the Cheetah Girls had cheesy things such as a Pep Rally and And Ice Tour, I'd think the same thing. They do not need cheesy things like that.

Your friends may not know the other Cheetah Girls, but many people I know do. Especially since two of them were from 3LW was all over MTV, radio, etc.

Sabrina Bryan was from a Nine time Emmy winning Soap Opera ("The Bold and The Beautiful"). I don't see High School Musical winning nine Emmy awards like they did. Except they can win many Kids/Teen Choice awards.

You say Raven is acting like a diva. What about "Zanessa"? They have the biggest egos I know. They cant sing and Vanessa can't act (Raven can do both), yet they demand more than $1 million for HSM 3! Please. Zac didn't even tour with the others from HSM (talk about diva) and they didn't even go to the Disney Channel Games with the others from High School Musical because they decided they were to good for it and instead, went on vacation in Hawaii. That's being a diva.

reply

Hey, all I said was HSM was more popular than CG. I didn't say anything about the HSM cast not being divas. I'm not entirely disagreeing with you there.

I haven't really decided whether I like Zac Efron or not. But I can say that I think Gabriella is one of the most annoying characters in HSM. I didn't seem to mind her in the first film, but I just wanted to shoot her in the second film. (not literally of course, but you get it). OMG, her giggles and perkiness when she was with Zac were just SO ANNOYING. And even Sharpay was ten times more annoying in the second movie. The only part that was good regarding Gabriella was when she mocked Sharpay in the beginning and that's it. The other times I thought she was super irritating.

To be honest, my favorite characters are Ryan Evans/Lucas Gabreel and Corbin Bleu. I really like the Ryan character and Corbin Bleu just seems like a cool guy.

And I'm just saying that the reason Zac Efron didn't tour with the rest of the cast was because he was filming Hairspray.

I still don't think Raven can act, tho. Sorry, gotta disagree there.

reply

Well, I agree with you on there.

I still think CG3 will do well. It may or may not top HSM2 in the ratings.

reply

Yes. Maybe it'll not top HSM 2's ratings, but still do well. We'll just have to wait and see.
