Of Isolde kissing a Roman solider. His character was axed from the final film. More photos of this random Roman here:

In one photo it looks like he is being held back. So it seems maybe they had written in a love story for isolde and a roman solider--maybe he is being held back during her rape scene?

What a lovely side plot. It isn't in the American version that aired, nor the US DVD! Bummer, I wish I could have seen it, might have rounded out Isolda's character more. Maybe someone can get it up on Youtube?

There were quite a few scenes cut. I saw this weeks ago on tv and order a copy of the DVD from the states. Not only is that sub-plot lost, but a lot of the scenes in Rome as well.

SPOILER

Just in case someone has not seen it. As I recall, (only saw this once when it was first shown in England), the film opened with a scene between Isolde and the Roman in question. They were portrayed as very much in love and planning to settle down together- or whatever people did back then. He was later unable to prevent her rape at the hands of his fellow legionnairies, and unable to accept what had happenned to her or work and fight alongside those who perpetrated it, he did indeed take his own life.
This is all that I remember of this particular story line, but there may have been more.
