More Boudica...

Can anyone think of any movies about or relating to the life, events, etc. of Boudica?

Mel Gibson is producing a movie about her. http://imdb.com/title/tt0409457/ It's scheduled for 2006 release, I hope that's true! I'd like to see her get the "Braveheart" treatment.

lol. Yeah. That would be cool. A new book just came out about her too. It's called "Dreaming the Hound" by Manda Scott. There are two prequels to it, though.

The prequels are called "Dreaming the Bull" and "Dreaming the Horse".
I've read them, and although they are not really historical correct it is very pleasent and interesting to read. I've never seen the movie but i'm very enthousiastic about the books. If you like the story of the warrior queen, then these books belong on your 'list'.

"Dreaming the Horse" isn't a prequel. It's "Dreaming the Eagle." That one was probably the most interesting, simply because it introduced you to everyone and that time and such. They are very good books.

Hammer's "The Viking Queen" (1967) is loosely based on Boudicca and worth checking out: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062443/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

My review brings up some of the common criticisms and attempts to explain them. Here it is: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062443/reviews-22
