What's with Vikings and Melodrama?

I mean, if i'm a viking and some woman calls me a coward and strikes me, i cut her in half, right? Not to sound chauvenistic, but I'm a viking, thats what i do. Is anybody with me on this?

reply

No. And you'd only cut her in have if she didn't cut you first. I'm thinking that they're women weren't sissies.

Actually women were generally feminine, however, they bossed their men around and could easily divorce.

drfunbags, you don't know too much about the vikings do you? :P

reply

Viking men generally didn't kill or fight with women...that would be umm...pretty dumb.

Women in the Viking age were generally feminine but there were occasionally some rather tough gals.
I remember a story, in which some Viking family were killing their neighbours (as you do) and the men didn't want to kill the women (see the men didn't kill the women as a rule) so the woman did it herself.
This was after christianisation so it shows you that the change of religion didn't change the culture in many ways.

And besides, would you kill Scandi women?...I wouldn't!!

You are correct Marlowe. The woman in that story was Leif Ericson's sister.
