I rented the movie from Blockbuster and couldn't even find it on IMDB until I went through Justin Whalin's movies links. On the cover of the DVD it is called Blood of Beasts. Is Beauty and the Beast a scrapped title or a foreign title or something?
sharei don't know the answer to your question. but the movie you spoke of has a 2005 release date. this is one of those movies that went straight to video and then they didn't release it right away. that's the only plausible explanation i can think of. they didn't want to contend with the Lord of the Rings series. the cover says it all. Jane March is in the same pose as Legalis(sp?)

Indeed, I rented the same movie Blood of Beasts, and wanted to see where is was filmed. It took me a while to find it, and I only found it by looking up a cast member's name.
Maybe that this movie has simalarities to Beauty and the Beast. Take the classic tale and move it to what is Blood of Beasts. The people here think it is a joke that people like you and I won't notice. But we did. If the IMDb people will see that we the peolpe see throught their tactics, I think that they will see that this is intitled Blood of Beasts and not Beauty and the Beast.
shareBeauty & the Beast was the original title and it is the title in certain markets, not in the US however(perhaps for title rights?). IMDB has many errors I've noticed through the years. This movie was made well after the release of The Lord of the Rings, made by a British production company in South Africa on a rather low budget. It was never meant to have a theatrical release, at least not in the US. There are a zillion movies made per year which are shelved and released years later for numerous reasons. Production companies make tons of money by making these low budget films if they can get them distributed, this is how they start out, take a look at New Image for example. After years of producing rather sub par films, they are now on the fast track w/ The Black Dahlia, raising their cache.

IMDB tends to put up data based on the original name of the movie, which, if the movie is filmed/released outside the US first, may be different from what the final US title winds up being.
Obviously, in development and for South African/European release, this one was probably called "Beauty and the Beast", which would then be the name it went up under. But for US release, they decided that "Blood of Beasts" worked better as a title, and it was released under the alternate name.
In general, take a look at the "Also Known As" sections for most movies - you'll see different variations of the title more often than you'd expect.
That's why, when i'm looking up movies that i want to find in IMDB, i use a search engine and type in "IMDB movietitle". usually finds it right away.
And for this, i like the Blood of Beasts title better than "Beauty and the beast." beauty and the beast just gives the whole movie away before you even start it. much better not knowing and getting to have that tiny epiphany during the movie that says. "...ooh!". For me anyway.

It's probably the title for the movie in another country. Like in Australia, "The Dragon King" is "Curse Of The Ring."

Beauty and the Beast was the original release title. And that's how IMDB lists it. They do the same with Anime titles. You'll find them listed by their original japanese titles first.
