What Does Lenny Murdoch's Criminal Empire Consist Of?

Good episode tonight, with Lenny Murdoch's true evilness being exposed, but I'm not sure what his actual "business" is supposed to be. Obviously he's a ruthless gangster of some kind, and is prepared to kill anybody who gets in the way of his criminal empire - the only problem is that his empire seems to consist of a 3 bedroom house and an unfurnished junkie flat...

He was willing to kill his own son tonight in order to protect... well, protect WHAT exactly?! A 3 bedroom house in Shieldinch?!? Everyone else seems to get a house without having to become a crime lord.

Where are all the proceeds of his crimes? Do the family spend it all on mobile phones?!

Anyways, he makes a pretty good heavy.

Supposedly 80% of the black pudding entering Scotland is smuggled in by Lenny.

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.

Lol. That explains it.

Well, if you haven't watched the show in the last year, you would find out that it has gone from decent soap to more of a gritty crime drama. Lenny just used to be the standard community baddie. But in the transformation, the show has fleshed out Lenny's villainy. As of late, he has been running a lot of heroin. And now that the Kennedy clan is slouching around, he has competition.

Very true Otkon.
My husband was watching it for the first times in years recently and said, "Thought this was a soap? It's a bit dark isn't it?"
Certainly changed a lot with many of the familiar faces not involved in storylines.
I just wish there was the occasional bit of light relief. It's all getting a bit depressing.
Plus, are there only three polis in Shieldinch?-they're involved in every crime committed!

Yeah, it has been pretty relentless with its grimness. Even Scarlett and Molly who are good for a few laughs have been down-and-out, beaten, held hostage, etc.

You're right. For the amount of vice going down on Montego Street, you would think they'd have a whole squad of coppers patrolling round-the-clock.

With everyone getting raped, or hooked on smack, or shot in the face, I am not sure why anyone would live there! But it makes for a good show.
