Comedy Ain't Funny in Close-ups - Bad Director!

Don't forget to blame the director for the demise of this show!

1) Sex farce comedy can't be funny in close-up. It just doesn't work if you can't see the body. Too much of the show was shot this way. Not to mention, some of the actors are mugging so badly it's as though they thought the camera is framing them in 3/4 body shots (ala Friends).

2) Apparently, British humor is not funny when told by Americans. The cadence, timing, and music of the dialogue was completely lost in this show. When Jim Burrows directs an episode of Will and Grace, he looks at the floor and listens because the comedy is in the words.

3) Foggy gauze lensing made this show look like a Barbara Walters special or a soap opera -- something else that subconsciously reminds us of things that aren't funny.

I've made my peace. Farewell Coupling.
