Is it bad that I actually like it?

The US version of Coupling isn't all that bad, I was already a fan of the UK version when it aired so...I was expecting complete *beep* but, it's actually very funny. It has potential to be one of my fav nbc sitcoms, but apparently its being cancelled so...that sucks. kay im done.

It was on last night...

No, it's not "bad" that you like it. Stand up for your opinion. The show is pretty good and last night's original was clever. The show has not been cancelled - they yanked it for November sweeps but they also did that with all their new sitcoms. Coupling will be back in December. hey, e-mail NBC and tell them you like it. They pay attention to such things.

<<hey, e-mail NBC and tell them you like it. They pay attention to such things.>>

Um, since WHEN??? If they actually paid attention to such things, there's plenty of shows that would still be on the air. FREAKS AND GEEKS pops into mind, mainly since there was an enormous campaign to save it, which NBC barely paid attention to. They don't care about actual viewer response -- all they care about are their damned Neilson Ratings (which are a big crock if you ask me). If the ratings go way down after the lead-in show (WILL & GRACE in this case), the show gets canceled. There's a major ratings dip after WILL & GRACE since COUPLING premiered. It's not often that there's a FAMILY GUY or DESIGNING WOMEN or CAGNEY & LACEY that's saved from the jaws of the cancellation demon.

Now that I got my rant out, no, it's not a bad thing that you like the US version and the UK version. Just don't be heartbroken when they pull the plug on the US version, leaving a bunch of episodes that will never be aired. No, the networks haven't made me cynical or anything....

Forecast for tomorrow: A few sprinkles of genius with a chance of doom!

So are they going to cancel the show or not? Hopefully they do.

I can't believe they took "Good Morning Miami" out of the Thursday 9:30 slot to put this sh*t on.

Who knows where thoughts come from? They just appear!

I said this in another post but: Good Morning Miami sucks

yeah well ... I'm guessing Coupling is going to be cancelled pretty soon anyway, so it doesn't matter.

amn32... I totally agree with you! Good Morning, Miami has potential. It should not be in the Tuesday night lineup. I never read any articles about it pulling ERs ratings down like Coupling did.

reply

No. But I think it sucks. Why did they have to make a us version anyway?? Not that I like Coupling UK version...

i absolutely loved the show... "Coupling", i mean! not "Good Morning Miami." Which is getting the time slot that "Coupling" was in.
But, all you have to do is look at the ratings for the show... if it was on any other night, NBC wouldn't have cancelled it. The only reason for the cancellation is that it didn't bring in the higher numbers that "Friends" and "Will and Grace" bring in. So at 8pm they have high numbers, 8:30pm the rating slip a little with "Scrubs", 9pm the ratings spike again, and then at 9:30 the ratings would fall again... not keeping the viewers to tune in to "ER." Which is still the best show on NBC... actually the only reason to watch NBC anymore.
"Couplings" only problem was being scheduled on Thurday night. NBC is so headstrong on finding a replacement for their golden child, "Friends", and when the ratings aren't as strong as "Friends", the show gets moved to Tuesday or at the least... cancelled!
Look at the Thursday night shows that havent lasted... "Veronica's Closet" "Stark Raving Mad" "Just Shoot Me"... the list goes on and on...
"Coupling" was a damn funny show... the ladies were gorgeous, especially Sonya Walger... the guys were totally cool, Patrick Ferguson... the jokes were up to date with the times and funny as hell... the "Resovoir Dogs" gag was absolutely freakin hilarious!
I love the British version and the American version was up to par with the British version.
If "Coupling" was on Tuesday night... NBC would have been proud of the ratings... it would have been a great follow up to "Frasier."

my opinions only... thanks for reading...

ER is NOT the best show on NBC!! The only time it even had a chance at that title was it's first 3 seasons. It is time to end ER!! When you don't have single major actor from the beginning of the series (that hasn't left for a season and returned), it's time to pull the plug. I haven't even been able to stand to watch ER for a few years now, but I still know what's going on from the CHEESEY teasers and the first few minutes I watch it before I turn it off. How much melodrama can they stuff into an hour of TV? For a good hour long NBC drama, see West Wing or Law & Order (the regular one, not a spin off).

Noah Wyle has never left and returned. He's an original cast member...

I guess that makes 2 of us. It was already shaping up to be a Thursday night favorite for me. NBC hit it on the head with Cheers, Seinfeld and Friends and I thought they should have at least ridden this one out for a full season. Hell, Seinfeld came in LAST place for it's first 4 episodes and was nearly cancelled!!
