Melissa?

Does anyone know if Melissa was an original character? I mean, I know Petunia was in the really old black and white ones, as a love interest for Porky. But she wasn't even that big. She was just sort of... there. I think they should have had a bigger character take her place. Someone like Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner and some characters that could make the show more interesting. Instead of Melissa, they should have put Wile E. and Road Runner. In my opinion, the show would be better with them. But anyways, I don't remember seeing Melissa in any of the old Looney Tunes cartoons. So if anyone knows, it would be really cool if you could tell me.

Did they give you a name along with all of those rippaling pectorals?

Melissa did appear in a couple of the old Looney Tunes shorts, albeit very briefly. She was Daffy's girlfriend in the shorts The Scarlet Pumpernickel and Muscle Tussle.

I believe Melissa was also the inspiration for Shirley the Loon on Tiny Toon Adventures.

OMG!! That was her???? I didn't know that was Melissa. But I always wondered. That's crazy. They should have had a bigger character in her place, if you ask me.

i think they have to balance out more girls on the show because in the old looney toons they had more guy characters than girl characters. the only ones i remember was granny and tweedy bird.

Tweety Bird isn't a girl; he's a boy. Petunia Pig was in the original cartoons, too (in a few very early black-and-white ones).

They could've also included the female black cat who always appeared in Pepe le Pew cartoons, I suppose, but I don't think she had a name.

I honestly don't think that the addition of the Road Runner or Wile E. Coyote would have improved the show, unless they were childhood friends, like Sylvester and Tweety.

If you'll notice, Chuck Jones' "series" cartoons (Road Runner & Coyote, Pepe Le Pew, Tom & Jerry) all had a sameness about them, centering on chases.
And that became tiresome after a while.
His best works were those showing his love of classical music ("What's Opera, Doc?", "The Rabbit of Seville", and even the otherwise weak "Baton Bunny") and his brilliant one-shot wonders ("The Dot and the Line", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas").

I think I would rather have Porky or Elmer as a regular on this show.
