So I finally saw Infernal Affairs. Then I saw that DVD cover on imdb, that's pretty hilarious. Anyway, at some point of the movie we meet that "old friend" girl with the five-year old daughter. Is it just me or is it the same five-year old in the hero funeral at the end, which is supposed to take place six years after?

I'm positive it's the same girl at the end, and it seems to me that the mother got the girl's age wrong on purpose to hide the fact that she's actually his daughter. He said it had been about seven years, and if she's 6 the timing makes sense. I can see not wanting to tell a gangster (I'm also guessing she didn't know he was a cop) that you're pregnant with his child. The funeral took place six months later, not six years.
shareIt was his daughter and the former girlfriend never told him because she thought he was a criminal. News came out six months after his death that he was an undercover policeman. So she attended his funeral with the girl.
