I don't know, I took it as the girl (the character) herself put on the accent. She was playing the Texas beauty queen, using her mother among others as a "role model" for lack of a better term right now. I thought she was hilarious and great. Haven't read the book though.....

In case I have not made myself clear, think of the example of "white suburban" types putting on the accent of a "Black urban" persona.

Women are like amateur drag queens, and the girl Toby liked was a miniature example.

She was so funny to me! I thought her accent was that of a mini southern belle. :)

I thought she was cute. Kind of gave me the illusion that George Little found himself a little girlfriend.

reply

I think you might be right there.

What do you mean? I never heard George Little in the Stuart Little films confess to his parents, brother, or Snowbell that he had a little crush on a girl.
