Was Jaggu really innocent? *SPOILERS*

Assuming Naseer's story at the end is true, how can they just set Jaggu free at the end? How can the police be so sure that Jaggu's wife died when Ishaan pushed her and that she was already dead when Jaggu stabbed her? Even if she was dead at the time of stabbing, Jaggu was still there with the intention to kill her and he did what he intended to do, which makes it a murder anyway, so how come he is set free at the end?

'Assuming Naseer's story at the end is true,'
But we don't know that it is true .

'how can they just set Jaggu free at the end?'
Because Ishaan was the one who confessed to killing Jaggu's wife.

'Even if she was dead at the time of stabbing, Jaggu was still there with the intention to kill her and he did what he intended to do, which makes it a murder anyway,'
No it doesn't because since Ishaan confessed, Ishaan was the one who killed her. Yes, I think Jaggu would have killed her if he didn't but it was Ishaan who killed her (if his confession is to be believed).

'so how come he is set free at the end?'
For the reasons I mentioned.

That's exactly my point, that despite Ishaan's confession, I do not understand how Jaggu's act was not punished. It's like saying: I went to rob a bank but when I reached there and tried to rob it (threatening people and breaking things) I noticed that the bank was already robbed, so I am completely innocent. Get my point? How then is Jaggu declared innocent?

I agree Anwar that it's not totally right but that's how the law works. Not only in India, but also in Europe. Since he didn't actually kill her they can't try him. When the defendant confesses to a murder, they usually convict him based on that (unless the evidence points out otherwise). Meanwhile, Jaggu did serve time in prison and perhaps that may be one reason why officials did not further look into the matter.

That is a different scenario. In this case the person will be tried for threatening and damaging and receive a mild sentence or community service but he won't be tried for robbery.

I understand your point completely but it's just how the law works.

But how can the Police believe Nassirudeen's story?....Its like if a prisoner confesses to other prisoners crimes then only one will be hanged, others can all go home.... Right?
