They are smart.

I just saw a trailer for this movie on the telly and I saw a clip with Elijah Wood. Despite their stupidity of having to make 2 sequels to the first movie, they are smart because they know if they get it out to enough fan girls that their darling Lijah is in the movie, they will run out to see it.

Actually, they hadn't officially casted Elijah as 'The Guy'. (oops spoiler) They decided that they would actually go through the rest of the movie and film 'The Guy' when they were ready for editing. Originally Robert wanted Elijah, but he never said anything. So like, a few days before they were to shoot 'The Guy' scene they called up Elijah. Of course he agreed.

LOL
i dont think that many girls would have come if Elijah wasn't in it.

No, the smart thing they did is to have Ricardo to grab the really old adults who watched him in the 50s (and those of us slightly younger watching him on Fantasy Island), Sylvester Stallone for those of us who grew up on Rocky and/or Rambo, Cheech Marin for those of us who think Cheech & Chong is THE coolest comedy act since the original cast of SNL's Not Ready for Prime Time Players, and George Clooney for those of us who are approximately his age who would marry him the minute he gets an annulment. Right off the bat, you have the viewing public that is in their 30's through 70s.

Add 30-something actors to play the parents, add teens to play the kids and you've got generations of viewing public watching it together. That is very rare.
