I bet the kids don't even speak spanish

In the movie they're suppose to be hispanic but I think in real life they werent even raised speaking spanish. Maybe alexa vega speaks a little but she sucks at it. Just listen to the her singing in spanish in Spy Kids 2. She sucks.
I dont know about the other kid but im pretty sure hes worse than alexa. They should have real hispanic actors that can really act.

I am so sorry to hear that. That is one of the biggest mistakes their parents made for not teaching them spanish.

It doesn't matter whether they speak Spanish or not. They are very cool actors, especially Alexa. She's so cool; she can act and she can sing. Her voice is very sweet and the Spanish part in the Isle Of Dreams soundtrack is cool, too.

Yeah, it seems that English is first. Just because a person has an Hispanic name is no guarantee they speak fluent Spanish. I bet the adults have (particularly Ricardo Montalban who I KNOWS speaks it fluently when given the chance). Cheech also speaks Spanish. Sylvester Stallone and George Clooney are Italian.

That being said, last I knew Spanish was a required course (it used to be), unless one had the misfortune to choose French instead.

It wasn't required in my high school or my homeschool. Was homeschooled for three years, went to public school when I was a senior, and the only time I took Spanish was my first semester of homeschool, and that was just because my stepmom picked that one, the school didn't require it.

Heh, true, very true.

I thought they were born and raised in South America by the film although for some odd reason they speak with an American accent. What was the point in setting the film in South America if this didn't play some role in the plot? Was it just because it was cheaper to film there or they wanted nice weather? I found it quite odd.

Excuse me, but Ricardo spoke Spanish (actually Mexican) very fluently. He just did it in English for this movie. And Ricardo has been acting since long before you've all been breathing!

You seem to be forgetting that Robert Rodrigez is Texan-born.
